Excellent and great value
This is a beautiful hotel set in a rural location, but not far from all amenities. We booked ‘The playroom’ room as it looked amazing on the website. It didn’t disappoint, looking exactly as per the photos. Absolutely spotless!! My only tiniest gripe would be that the toilet seat didn’t stay up, and the door to the room, being the original Victorian type, isn’t soundproofed, meaning you can hear everything that goes on outside and down the stairs, and they in turn, can hear you. Not that great if you want to play in the playroom. The staff are the friendliest and most helpful people I’ve ever came across in my vast hotel experiences. Nothing was any trouble at all. The ‘snug’ room has an honesty bar, should you fancy a tipple in the evening, It has books and dvds should you wish to take one to the room, as the TVs have built in DVD players. The full English breakfast is very tasty, albeit a tad small. You can, however, top up on fresh fruit etc which is readily available, along with the unlimited nespresso coffee and orange juice. All in all, most excellent, and would highly recommend.

Must Visit (even if you’re local)
With the exception of one very minor issue, which I’ll go on to explain. This hotel, restaurant and its staff are incredible. From the moment we arrived the attentive nature of the staff was apparent, couldn’t have asked for a better or more organised arrival. The honesty bar in the lodge is a fantastic idea and makes for a nice touch despite not having every item available on the bar tariff, I’m confident that if we had asked they would have sourced. The meal in the restaurant is worth every penny and great value for money, the additional touches of canapés, amuse bouche and pre desserts are great and taste just as good as the courses you’ll enjoy! Our room was clean and tidy although and decorated elegantly. Now for the one minor negative, there was no shampoo in the room but when we requested some from staff, they sent someone to the shop to buy some, see, I told you it was minor and they couldn’t have done anymore. Breakfast was lovely and definitely worth having, a wide selection of continental and cooked. I didn’t catch the name of the gentleman who looked after us for the majority of our stay but he was fantastic in every way possible. Brasteds have some excellent and attentive staff.

Perfect
Great room with everything you need. The breakfast was spot on. We ate at the pub which is a couple of minutes away which offered good food at fair prices (The Railway). Will defiantly stay again when in area.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff. Would return.
Nice hotel, great staff. Different hotel with only a few rooms, there is a small restuarant, snug with tv and dvds and an honesty bar where you can get your own drinks and leave a note of what you've had to settle up afterwards. Restaurant is only open Thursday to Saturday night I believe so I was contacted by the hotel to see if I wanted any assistance in booking anything locally. Loads of decent pubs within 5 minutes drive. Only slight downside was breakfast was continental up to 8am and then cooked breakfast available afterwards but I wouldn't not return because of that.
