Hugely overpriced, tiny room, won't stay again
Hugely overpriced. This was four and a half times the price of the Premier Inn I stayed in the following night, but frankly the Premier Inn was considerably nicer. The first room I was allocated was a very small double bedroom but had no window (and no mobile network reception). I'm very claustrophobic so asked to be given a different room. My second room was an even smaller single bedroom in another building. Furniture had seen better days. I'd paid £440 for this tiny room (how can you call the hotel Montcalm SUITES?). I paid an extra £15 for breakfast which I'd been told would be served in the Brewery restaurant, but was actually taken to the Club Room in another building for a self-service very second rate breakfast (limited choice, no table available so had to eat at coffee table; no plates, cereal dishes or cutlery laid out so had to ask for them). Toilet in my bathroom flushed intermittently, shower pressure very poor. No way can this be described as a 4/5 hotel. The only positive thing I can think of was the very helpful young man who valiantly walked up 5 levels of stairs with me to show me to my room as I don't do lifts (due to my claustrophobia). My room at the Premier Inn the next night cost £96 including a much better breakfast, and was at least three times the size, huge bed, furniture newer, shower superior, and they found a room for me on 1st floor despite being full. Montcalm, you could learn a lot from Premier Inn!

Tiny, uncleaned room with poor service
The single room I booked was ridiculously small and poorly designed. It tried to offer the full equipments of a standard hotel room. But the size of the room is too small to install these equipments. The result is: TV right above your head when you are sitting at the writing desk. The tiny 3-feet bed was at the end of the room, with a tiny quilt wrapped by an oversized comforter-cover. The daily cleaning service was done poorly, leaving my used tea mug with teaspoon on the place I left in the morning. The pack of cotton buds in the bathroom was used and opened by former guest. Access to the room at 5th floor is denied at the lobby. One has to use the worker-access at the backyard, which is closed after 10pm.

permanent scans of photo ID?
The place is ok - it has the feel (and smell) of the endless 'luxury' apartment blocks in every city now. Initial impressions are fine, but all rather faded and jaded. My big complaint is that they asked for ID checking in - fine. But then without asking I noticed by driving license had been scanned in full. I questioned this, and why they didn't tell me what they were doing and the usual 'company policy' response followed. What alarms me is that they said this full colour scan remains on their servers for ever - there is no expiration. I don't feel comfortable with a one use only hotel keeping a permanent record of my photo ID. The only route for deletion - emailing customer services - has so far been unresponsive. Otherwise, rooms are fine. Mattresses are tired and made good by duvet-thick covers. Furniture slightly worn and dirty. Great location though.

Clean - that's about that
On check in we asked if we could book for breakfast on Sunday, but not Monday. We were advised no, it's all or nothing and you can pay the inflated price if you only want one day.We decided not to bother with either day. We were also told the restaurant was closed over the weekend, which was annoying. We asked if the bar was still open - yes she said. We asked concierge where the bar was and he proceeded to look at his screen, have a conversation with his colleague, before telling us it was closed at weekends. So annoyed as the site said lovely bar and restaurant and we really wanted to chill without travelling. The room was ok, but there are 'helpful' night lights on the floor - which are bright white and disturb the whole room.

Perfect Experience !
We stayed in London city suites by Montcalm from December 28 until January 2, 2018. There is only one word to describe our stay: Amazing. The Hotel met our expectations. First, the price is very affordable compared to other hotels in London. Indeed, a three stars hotel in Oxford Street was more expensive than London city suites, which is a five stars hotel. You may say that this is because of the location, but honestly, I preferred to stay in a calm neighborhood very close to two the metro station (Barbican and Moorgate). So do not worry about the location because it is very simple to get to the place you want. Second, the service was perfect. We got a free bottle of champagne and a variety of tea bags and coffees. All the staff were super nice and friendly, and were always ready to help. All the essentials are at your disposal such as shampoo, body lotion, shower gel, slippers, bathrobe, a very good hairdryer, safe, umbrella and much more. The room was very beautiful and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, the experience was more than good and I am definitely choosing this hotel in my next trip to London!
