good location for souks and old part of town long way to downtown dubai

DIFFICULT TO FIND, BUT A GREAT POSITIVE SURPRISE OVERALL! VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF(NATHAN!!!) WITH GREAT BREAKFAST. EXCELLENT LOCATION WITH SHORT WALK TO METRO, BUS AND TAXI SERVICES, AS WELL AS RED BUS ROUTE. GREAT AREA TO CONNECT FROM TO ALL EXCURSIONS AND SIGHT SEEING AREAS. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. EXCELLENT VIEW FROM ROOF FOR SUNSET AND RELAXING

We stayed 5 nights at the Barjeel Heritage Guest House during our honeymoon trip. The guest house is situated right on the river walk in the old part of Dubai cca. 200m from the metro station, which made getting around the town easy and convenient. The whole building and the furnishing of our room was really stylish, Arabic infused. We really liked every aspect of it, it was clean and quiet, equipped with an A/C and a mini fridge. The complete hotel staff was really friendly and helpful, especially Veronica, who went above and beyond to take good care of us. The fresh juices for breakfast were delicious, although the food could have been a little more varied over the days. Our stay was absolutely great at Barjeel, we can only highly recommend.

Stayed here for one night before visiting the grant mosque in Abu Dhabi. It is located about 100 m from the main bus station in Dubai, where you can take bus direct to the main bus station in Abu Dhabi (the journey time is about 2 hours). The room was big (about 300 sq feet), clean and tidy. Free wifi available. The breakfast (included in the room price) was also good, with juice, egg, bread, butter, coffee, and fruits available. This accomodation is recommended if you are planning a day visit from Dubai to the grant mosque in Abu Dhabi.

Excellent location! Loved the Old Dubai location, very close to the metro and the creek marine station, souks, etc. so getting around Dubai was very easy and inexpensive. The roof top was a great place to watch the walkway from up top. The breakfast was lovely with good choices and variations. The adjoining restaurant was also very good cuisine with great dinner prices. The room was comfortable, bed excellent four poster, overhead fan and a/c, and the whole ambiance was just right for the feel of old town. Clean, secure, and staff very helpful. The taxi cannot drop you off right at the front door because the road doesn't go directly by but it drops you about 100 ft off to the side where the taxi's can pull over. The building is very plain so you have to go around to the front creek side to find the front door. We arrived late so it was a bit dark and finding the door took a few minutes. Reception was open late for us. Recommend it highly for anyone wanting to get more of a old time feel of Dubai and not want to be in expensive high rise type of hotels. Convenient for both the airport and cruise ship terminal.
