Rooms with kitchenettes and tatami mats, in Koreatown

Hanazono Shinto Shrine

Just north of Shinjuku, the Korean restaurants and K-pop haunts of Shinokubo, Tokyo's Koreatown, surround Hotel Hanabi, a 3-minute walk from Shinokubo Station. It's an 18-minute walk to the tranquil Hanazono Shinto Shrine and a 26-minute walk from Shinjuku Central Park.

Shopping and shrines

Shopping your way through Shinjuku Sanchome district, a 20-minute walk, is a fun way to reach the lush grounds of Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. The Japanese Sword Museum, 20 minutes by metro from Shinokubo Station, pairs well with nearby Meiji Shrine, a 14-minute walk further.

Bright and plant-filled

Friendly staff and a shoe-free indoor policy - lockers are available - add to the homely, traditional feel of the hotel. Plants and plant-based artwork keep things fresh throughout, and parking is available, as are vending machines and an Internet station.

Valuable Tatami experience
I booked this hotel because my daughter wanted to have tatami experience. The room was very simple and basic without any furniture. The bathroom was clean but very tight as mentioned by others.Check in & out was easy and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our first visit in Tokyo.

Great stay for family with young kids
We had stayed at Hanabi hotel for 3 night. The location near okubo and shin okubo station but a little hard to find this hotel. I had stayed with my family 2 adults, 1 teenage, 2 boys in a room for 5 people. The size of the room is at decent size. But the bath room is very small.

Falling short of 2.5 stars
What is a Japanese hotel without the bidet toilet? We expect the room to be small but this is really too tiny. We have to make our own futons. The pillows were too thin for comfort. Also the tatami mat kept fraying and the bits stuck on our clothes. The WiFi is also weak. For similar price, we could have booked 2 hotel rooms nearby. Will not be staying there again.

great for the families
I stayed with my kids and found the room very comfortable. Excellent for the families with kids as you can put beddings away during the day and have a lot of room. All the staff were very helpful and welcoming of us - nice surprise as some places do not like having small children,
