Checking in to the hotel is smooth. Counter staff is welcoming and warm. However, one staff from the kitchen/bar was pretty rude that day when we had our breakfast at the hotel. We were their 2nd customer at the restaurant, and the only couple waiting at the queue; they weren't busy at all, however we were only attended to after much wait and eye contact with the staff as we're trying to get their attention. The part that pissed me was this staff asking me and my partner, casually, "are u from China?", when we were making our way to get food. I replied no, then he walked away. I was puzzled why he'd ask that, thinking if he's expecting someone from China? But it feels more like he's just being judgmental. I went over to feedback this unpleasant breakfast experience to their manager at the check in counter. Susan appeared understanding and apologetic towards her staff's words and actions. I felt offended from that "casual" discriminating question. It really reflected how unprofessional and rude he was, when he could have asked in a better way IF he's genuinely interested to know which country we came from. And so what if we were really from China? Is he planning to treat me differently? I did not judge him from where he came from, I did not talk down to him? His actions and words should not be tolerated. This was a extremely disappointing encounter we had from the hotel.

Nice digs!
My daughter & I spent a pleasant weekend at the Pegasus. The room was nice & clean, we were in fact upgraded from a 2 singles room to 2 queens, a nice surprise after a long drive from Sydney that day. Check-in & out was easy & explained well & the staff unobtrusive, not "in your face" friendly, but professional, which I appreciated. Parking costs $25 per night. The hotel is located about a block from the Victoria Markets, which is great if buying lots of goodies! I would recommend using the tram stop at the top of the hill, rather than walking 2 blocks downhill. The location is right next door to "Little Korea", (which you won't find marked on any map) & there is a great little restaurant down the street, as well as a handy mini-mart around the corner. The bathroom was reasonably well equipped, however we did have a wet bathroom floor & towels on the first night, as the back of the shower head sprayed a small spray of water when moved, but we soon sorted out the problem & had fresh towels the next day. The outer window blinds were also damaged, due to rough handling by clients, but this did not affect their function. The TV could have done with Foxtel or a movie channel, but was adequate. We only ate in the restaurant on one night, the meal was generous & quick, & the staff friendly, even happy to do a "doggy bag" for the fussy teenager. The only thing I would warn against, was accepting the offer of "mineral water" before dinner, too expensive at $12.50.

Definitely run by Chinese for the Chinese!
I am a frequent traveler so i was surprised when certain standards were not met. Simple things such as having a TV in the bedroom, who doesn't like watching TV in bed? The TV in the living room was only equipped with free-to-air channels. One afternoon, we were chilling in the hotel room WITHOUT the room service sign up, and a service lady yells "room service!" and opens the door. Quickly I yelled (as I was butt naked in bed lol) and said "No thanks!" She then continually knocked as if she was going to come in again. We ignored her. She then proceeded to dial the room phone and asked if we needed room service... Regardless of this, the room service (when we did get it) was great. Furthermore, the bathroom was SO small considering we got a family room, and no en-suite. There was no wardrobe in the main bedroom (or they put the king bed in the small room and the 2 single beds, which we did not request, in the main room?). What was also disappointing was that there was no 24-hour, or room delivery meals! They left us some take-away thai/chinese cuisine menu in the bedroom that is only valid until 9:30pm and we had to pick it up form the restaurant downstairs!? The menu wasn't even worth trying, you would be better off getting UberEats for sure. All in all I wouldnt say the hotel ruined my trip, but I definitely was not looking forward in returning to my room each night.. Overall, just really poor design on the Architecture and Builder's end.

Short mid-week family stay
We arrived on an early-morning flight, and, although our room was not available at that early hour, the reception staff were so helpful with arranging to hold our bags. We were then pointed in the direction for a delicious family breakfast. We received a phone call a few hours prior to check in time, to advise our room was ready. When we arrived in our room, we noticed the lounge room furniture was very old and the material worn and slightly stained (due to the wearing of the fabric). The seats were extremely uncomfortable and the padding was almost non-existent in the two arm chairs, and the sofa was also very uncomfortable. We also moved one of the arm chairs and found rubbish underneath from a previous guest. The beds, however, were very comfortable, and provided us a good nap on our first afternoon. The location is handy for the Queen Victoria Markets, Carlton Gardens and the Museum, plus close to the free city tram. The location, however, provided a very noisy atmosphere - with a LOT of construction going on around the area. We endured jackhammering (happening somewhere outside our building) from 7am each morning - which the external windows did not at all deaden. We were pleased with the restaurant downstairs in the lobby - providing us two out of our three dinners. One was taken up and eaten in our room, and the other eaten in the restaurant. The great thing about having young children is the early dinner time and having no one else in the restaurant.
