Good 6.0
Not impressed. Visit in 2019.
First of all, if you book a room with 2 queen beds, your room will NOT face the harbor, the hotel told me that after Hotels.com assured me that all rooms had view to the bay. The only suggestion the hotel made was to address it with Hotels.com for false advertisement. At the back of the hotel there are train railings, so yes, be prepared to being awoken in the middle of the night by a train horn! plus the ghetto looking ares with homeless people at all times. Not only that, please note that there is not self-parking, $45 dollars per night for valet parking. Breakfast, so chaotic and I was not very impressed by the choices they made on the hot breakfast, crowded, big lines , just chaotic, 10 min. wait to make your waffles. Not family friendly, my kids ate cereal and waffles every day, well that might vary for every family depending on how picky your kids are. Now, they are not accommodating when checking-in at all like other hotels you might have visited, check-in is AFTER 3:00 p.m. so if you arrive early then you wait. It happened to another family while we were waiting. The rooms were clean and modern but everything else I was not impressed at all.

Fair 4.0
It's just an OK hotel.
I like to pick hotel with breakfast included because it's easy with my kids. However the breakfast at this hotel doesn't worth it to be include. The hotel is not very cheap to include that horrible breakfast. The swimming pool and jacussy are too small for so many people they host. The kitchen didn't have utensils to eat. We decided one night to have dinner in the room and watch a movie with my kids, but there were not utensils. No even an sponge to wash the only one we had. It was too expensive for what we had. My kids couldn't swim because there were too many people and not even towels there. The jacussi was full of people drinking alcohol even during the day. I was with my 3 kids for a weekend and we didn't like anything from the hotel. I like to stay in not very cheap hotel because I want the whole family feels confortable and we all have a good time. Unfurtunate this time didn't worth it to pay almost $300.- per night. They charge $40.- per parking. One block from the hotel is a pubblic parking lot that charge $10.- for 24 hrs. I'm sharing this because I din't know when I picked this hotel. Usually I like the Hilton's chain.

Very good 8.0
Booking was an issue. Wanted to stay at property for two nights. Booked 2 bedroom suite for family of 5 for 1st night. Was finally able to book second night days later, but smaller room. Upon check in was told by clerk we could have the same room for both nights, just had to reissue room keys the next morning. Next morning as we were headed out stopped at front desk and were told we had to move rooms. Had to scramble to pack up, but the staff did move our bags for us as we were out for the day. Best beds during our weeklong trip to S. California. And my family liked the included breakfast. Disappointed didn't have better water view of the San Diego Bay. VERY close to airport. Last morning had great view of planes landing at SAN!

Exceptional 10.0
First of all, San Diego is a beautiful place to visit. This hotel is so convenient to people who may be visiting for the first time. There are many sites to see within walking distance and so many more you can see by taking a trolley tour of the area. While I didn’t like having to pay $45 a day to have my car valet parked, we wanted to visit areas outside of San Diego and that made a rental car necessary. The staff at this hotel is very friendly, our room was clean, breakfast was good, and the weekday “happy hour” was more of a light meal than the light snacks we expected. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Exceptional 10.0
This was our first Homewood Suites & we're hooked!
Upon our arrival we were greeted with eye contact and smiles. Great start! It only got better from there, the amenities, quality of breakfast and manager's reception was superb, the careful planning and attention to detail throughout should be the standard for all other Homewood Suites *ahem Irvine*. Note: this location has 2 hotels in one, There is one long reception counter, the left side is Homewood Suites & the right is Hilton Garden Inn. Although close to the airport, airplane noise is a non-issue. The swimming pool is heated & partially covered so even when it rains, we still swam. Best experience ever! The fitness room directly faces the pool with all glass. The pool is 3' all around so it was the perfect set up for us to work out while we watched our 7 & 9 yo through the window. The kitchen had everything we needed to heat up our left overs and comfortably enjoy our meal in the room. Parking is only valet for $40USD per night-NO self parking option. We just parked on the street in front of the hotel. We never had trouble finding a spot. The closest spot was right by the hotel in front of our room window. The furthest was 2 minutes walk down the street. If you have children, there is so many great amenities and details about this hotel that if you're deciding factor is based on parking, then you're missing out on some of the best experiences and memories to be had at this particular location. Not all Homewood Suites were created equal, this one is special!
