Parking was a di$a$ter. No car no problem.
The room was nice enough though small. Hotel was clean the decor was a little off-putting at night time with the bright colors in the backlight. I had called the hotel directly in advance of booking to verify on-site parking was available. The woman I spoke to advise that there was ample parking, valet only, $30 a day.I do feel like the parking fee should be included on the hotels.com website cuz it makes a big difference when choosing where to book. We decided to book anyway. When we arrived at the hotel there was no parking available. When I spoke to the woman at the front desk she said that we needed to get there early to get one of their limited spots but that there was parking available all around the hotel. there was in fact parking all around the hotel but the only place that we found it had space cost about $60 for us to park overnight. So, if you don't have a car I give it lots of thumbs up. If you plan on checking in right at the very beginning of the day and not leaving you probably would be fine. If you intend to check in past 5 p.m. and have a rental car that needs a place to stay as well, I would consider an alternative lodging option.

As we arrived on an early flight i.e. 0730 so couldn't book in until 3pm which was ok. We left our bags there and went roaming around Waikiki. We went back to the hotel around 2.30pm and was told that our room would be ready shortly and the would let us know in about 5 or 10 mins. We waited and waited and waited and then there was a shift change. So went up to reception again about 3.15pm to ask and was then told that our room was ready. So much for letting us know when we were sitting there waiting. Went up to room and no bags. Went back down to reception to see where our bags were and told 'Oh they are in the wardrobe' and we were supposed to know that how seeing as the wardrobe doors were closed. Also as we had to give them a credit card for authorisation even though the room had been prepaid they put a USD$100 hold on my card. 12 days later that hold is still on my card and apparently they hold it for 30 days. When I asked about it a week later was told that they had released it the next day and said it was the bank. Contacted the bank and was told no it is the hotel as they have it set in their system to hold the funds for a set number of days so now I have to get the hotel to do a letter to Mastercard to have the funds released. Not impressed.

Staycation for the Honolulu Marathon
What a cute and contemporary little spot to stay for the weekend! We live on the Leeward side and wanted to stay in Waikiki for our first Honolulu Marathon. It’s perfect! Walking distance from everything. Their restaurant ‘Heavenly’ has great organic menu options and the staff was very friendly. Check in was smooth & they were very nice as well. They have yummy fruit infused waters, coffee, and tea in the lobby 24/7, free daily newspaper, and free wi-fi. It’s a small hotel so the elevator wait was very quick! I do have 2 small gripes. First, the noise. We are in the heart of Waikiki so we could hear all the activity/nightlife, such as live music, or the beeping from trucks backing up. We stayed on the 14th floor (top floor). The hotel does provide earplugs though which was great. My second gripe is the parking. They only offer valet and it’s $30/day with in/out privileges. It’s kind of hard to find...you have to drive to the next street over and enter from the back where the alley is narrow. We had a big SUV so it was really tight. If you live here, I suggest that someone drop you off. Also, book directly through their website...they offer 50% off parking for Kamaaina. We booked through hotels.com so we couldn’t get the parking discount. To make up for it, they gave us the biggest room on the top floor in the corner which was really awesome of them! All in all, we enjoyed our stay!

Great cute hotel for the money!
This is a super cute "fixed up" older hotel in a great area. They "went off!" on using bright colors and fun themes to fix up a boring older building and it works! Crappy view of a run down building from our room and the toilet had a leak but you could not beat the price and the location. The "queen bed" seemed like a double and the A/C was a bit loud but if you like your bed partner and you have ear plugs the mattress was comfy and the room was cute and clean. We would stay here again because of the location close to the heart of Waikiki, lovely front desk and maid service and the fun vibe and the good price. But if you are looking for "upscale" this is not it.

Good value, great location
This is my fourth stay at Shoreline, and I consider it to be good value. When you are travelling on the little old NZ dollar, that can be important (especially when you want to save your cash for shopping!). Over the past four or five years, the ownership or at least the company running the hotel seems to have changed a number of times. Most of the time this hasn't impacted the vibe or the value for money proposition for me. But this trip, for the first time a "resort fee" has been introduced. Given this is a hotel, not a resort, and situated in the centre of Waikiki (not on the beach), I find this offensive. Putting aside the resort fee issue, there are still some nice touches. The cool drinks available in the foyer 24/7 are a nice touch, especially when you've been out in the hot sun for hours. The staff are all lovely, friendly and very helpful. The location is great - very central with easy access to everything. The beach is about a five-10 minute walk away. Right in the heart of Waikiki's shopping and eating options, and all the tour buses, trolley buses and standard public transport are very close by. The room was fine - it does what you need it to. The bathroom was a bit tired and not what you'd call luxurious, but was clean and did the job. Some of the TV channels in the guide did not work ("no signal" the whole time I was there).
