A diamond with some edges that need smoothing.
So this hotel is on the brink of greatness. Its amazing location has such promise. A few upgrades and it would be amazing. We had an issue with unclean sheets. The manager of the hotel took care of it right away. She was terrific. Food service at dinner was a bit slow. Towels were not bright white. Beach, breakfast and location were fabulous. Staff was friendly.

We booked a five night stay at Sandy Haven. We stayed three, only because the hotel we decided to move to after the first night couldn’t accommodate us earlier. While there were some positives to our experience at Sandy Haven, we quickly realized that resort is not a luxury boutique hotel as it is represented to be. If you are like us and have not been to Negril before, I recommend considering a resort on the cliffs unless you are looking for a loud and more party-centric vacation. Additionally, after we checked in and had no hot water in our room, we found out through other reviews that hot water had been scarce for more than a month. Had we known this was an ongoing issue, we would have canceled our reservation within the free cancellation window and not lost two nights worth of money when we checked out due to the hotel’s lack of transparency about a major ongoing issue. Pros: -beach access -bar conveniently located next to beach seating area -walkability to multiple restaurants -most staff is courteous and helpful A few of many cons: -visible mold in our room -uncomfortable beds with cheap linens -a couple staff members were pushy and made us feel uncomfortable -while the beach seating is reserved for guests, the beach itself is public and crowded with people trying to sell stuff. We were approached every ten minutes by someone trying to sell us souvenirs, weed, food, or anything else you could imagine. -loud music from the bar and neighboring bars
