Think Twice and Thrice Before Booking Here.
Hotel Miramar Singapore incurred a $300 loss to me as a result of its poor quality service. My recommendation is that you look for other four-star hotels should you believe paying for a four-star hotel means something more than enjoying a good bed at night. When I checked in to the hotel around midnight, I communicated clearly over and over again that I, while feeling extremely tired from the long-day schedule, have to wake up at 5 AM as my flight is around 7 in the morning. Before retiring to my room, I naturally requested for wake-up calls as I have to leave for the airport soon. It was a symbolic gesture that three hours of my stay will be all for the flight three hours later—and the hotel’s manager seemed to have understood. And the wake-up call never happened. The manager should have known that when a soon-to-fly-back-to-somewhere guest whose long day finished at 2 AM in the morning steps into the hotel with all the devices’ batteries fully drained and is given a room without any alarm clock, the wake-up call is more than necessary. Yet, even the simplest request for the wake-up call wasn’t met. When I went to the reception desk, the manager started his speech with excuses, not apologies. At a four-star hotel that prides itself for delivering impeccable friendly service and making its customers finding themselves with every need well taken care of, I was nothing more than a small mechanical cog in the large, coldly-impersonal wheel.

Service Level - Much room for improvement
1) The receptionist who checked us in was rather rude. She walked away without waiting for us to finished our request. 2) There were 3 ladies & a gentleman at the Front Desk. The gentleman was well-groom but the 3 ladies’ hair were in a mess. I suppose the least tat they could do is to tie up neatly. One of the ladies was worst! She has half her face covered wif her longggggg hair while attending to a guest. 3) We were supposed to checkout by 2pm. While lunching at Cafe downstairs, I returned to room at 1pm, thinking of using the restroom but found our room door opened. Thought it’s not time for us to check-out yet so why did someone else opened our room door? 4) I suppose we were given the not-yet-newly-renovated room (vs the last visit, we were assigned a newly renovated room). It’s time to replacement the mattress even though the room is not in queue for renovation work to be done.

Everything ok, but not great.
My bad luck to have booked this near F1, so for the price I was paying I didn't feel I was getting my money's worth. Perhaps at a non-peak rate, it would be different. Nothing terrible here, but just little things that I would have preferred better; the TV was smaller than I'm used to in a hotel; the gym was smallish, even the placement of the water tap above the sink was sub-optimal (the tap was set back so that the water flow was right at the edge of the sink). Again, nothing really wrong, but for this price, thanks, I guess, to the F1 weekend, I would have liked more.

Exceptional 10.0
Great quiet hotel
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Esp, the concierge (he knew everything about Singapore) The Hippo bus has a bus stop just outside the hotel too which was very handy to explore Singapore (which u can buy tickets from the concierge). Rooms were very spacious and comfortable, cable tv was good too and breakfast was fantastic. The river is basically across the road with some resturants lined along there, so heaps to do near by. Being Aussie it was fun going to the Boomerang restaurant (Singapore not a cheap place) But Taxis are cheap and the city isnt far so it worked out really well. Lots of Japanese tourists choose this hotel.

Fair 4.0
Room condition was poor. Overnight front desk shift staff were half-heartedly welcoming at best. No 24/hour room service meant that I had to go to the neighboring petrol station for sandwiches at 1 am upon arrival. Room decor was out of the early 1990s. Tiny TV. Shower drain broken. Tub basin chipped and dirty. Duvet was not clean. Room safe was inoperable. Buffet in the lobby looked and smelled good but hardly anyone was ate there. On the plus side, the bell staff was outstanding in helping me to get a taxi. Overall this place seems like a bit of a dump and I won't stay again unless I have absolutely no alternative.
