We loved our stay at the Clarion Hotel Trondheim! It sits right on the harbor and was conveniently located near the Trondheim Central Station. Pros: - Trondheim is a very walkable city and the Clarion gave easy access to the downtown area through a few different routes. - It was less than a 10 minute walk (with 3 rolling bags) from the Central Station and then about a 10 minute walk to the Hurtigruten port. - Comfortable rooms: bed, refrigerator, air conditioning, and a little window that opened. - The breakfast buffet was the best that we experienced in all our hotel stays. It was pretty amazing. - Love, love, love that in all the hotels we stayed in in Norway we needed to put one of our key cards into a slot in our room to activate the electricity. Cons: None..... It was a great place to stay.

The bed was one of the best I've slept in - topper, linen, all great - and the complimentary coffee also really good (beats Nescafé, and I know it's a tiny detail, but in the depths of winter, it matters!). Breakfast was plentiful, and the Nør restaurant also great for a Christmas meal. The bar staff were also lovely. It was a shame there weren't more food options available over Christmas, but even so, I had a wonderful stay.

When our TV remote stopped working, she didn’t just send someone—she personally brought fresh batteries to our room with a smile. That level of attentiveness is rare, and it set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel itself is modern, spotless, and perfectly located, but it’s the staff—especially Sofia—who elevate the experience. We also enjoyed an excellent supper at the hotel restaurant, which exceeded our expectations in both quality and service. The dishes were beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and served promptly despite a busy dining room. It’s clear the kitchen and service teams take real pride in what they do. Between the outstanding meal and the thoughtful hospitality throughout the hotel, the Clarion delivered a stay that felt both comfortable and memorable. Magnificent hotel with great facilities, space, very modern and close to the city. Our bedroom was on the seaside with a gorgeous view over the fjord. The bed was very cosy and the towels soft. I enjoyed the generous breakfast in the morning and the free access to the spa in the building next door. There’s a bus no25 around the corner that takes you to the city. Train station is otherwise only 10 min away on foot.

The Hotel has a convenient location if you want to visit the Nidaros Dome. Only abt 15 min walk from the Hotel. The breakfast was something else! Facilities like light systems and TV in our rooms did not work well or not at all. Slow action when it came to repair, but the straff was very seviceminded and flexible in helping out.

Likes: + Location: 8 min walk from the central station, also within walking distance of several nice restaurants, shopping malls, and main attractions. + Breakfast Buffet: Healthy, hearty, and diverse to address all tastes. Dislikes: - Check-in receptionist: Unlike most of the very friendly professional staff, it was a very unpleasant experience having to deal with that receptionist. Maybe he was just having a bad day. Anyway, I highly recommend using the self check-in station for a more dignifying experience! - Room: Narrow, poorly lit, with towels' hangers inconveniently placed near the floor and immediately above the toilet seat (but now hangers behind the toilet door for exsmple!). Also, the AC heating is limited to only 3 degrees above the auto temperature (so, pack heavy winter PJs!).
