Overnight weekend stay for dad's 80th
Central location and easy to get to whether travelling by train or car as located few minutes from Picadilly railway station. We travelled by car but no issues. Hotel spotless and bed very comfy and even though no parking included in the price there were several car parks nearby. We had asked for a top floor room and got this but was quite near the lift which we had requested not to be, but luckily we weren't too disturbed by the lift. The only little grumble was when we were checking out there was quite a queue and only 2 on reception so were left waiting longer than we had anticipated but the staff were professional and polite which compensated for this. We didnt have breakfast but we were offered it at a a third off the price on booking in only, we at that point hadnt decided whether to eat locally in the area on the day of check out. We feel it should have still been offered at a third off on the day to guests that had pre paid fully as we had, just a suggestion as people do change their minds overnight. We werent there long enough to try the gym and the bar looked inviting but we were tired by the time we got in from celebrating dad's birthday so didn't try the bar but would have done otherwise, great to have the choice. Overall very pleased with our stay though and would stay there again as location i dont think you can beat it if wanting a central hotel like we did

Disappointing stay at Holiday Inn
The hotel staff are not friendly at all and some of them can be very rude most of the times. Someone should teach them to be polite and smile a little! The hotel does not help in even heating food brought from outside when it was freezing temperatures outside (remember, the restaurant has a very limited menu and long stay people cant be expected to dine in everyday!). Upon asking for some cutlery and plates to eat food in the room, the hotel staff mentioned that they will charge me £5 just to deliver it to the room. The cleaners never used to clean the floor of the room properly, i could see the floss which i had thrown in the dustbin running around in the room for almost a week despite putting it back in the dustbin. Some days, the staff would not even replenish the hand towels which they would just take away. The hotel room also did not have a fridge or a mini bar (surprising that they have made a full service holiday inn into the holiday inn express while charging higher rates for the full service hotel). I must say, it was a truly disappointing stay. Also, despite mentioning that i wanted a room with a view (which was clearly mentioned in my request), and asked them to notify me once it was available, the hotel staff never got back to me or apologised for unable to do so. The behaviour of the entire staff was really disappointing!!!

Great hotel & service - Room service letdown
Easily accessible hotel in the heart of Manchester. 5 mins walk from the station if you use the main exit. Spotlessly clean, new and modern. Loved my room (426). Good lighting, spacious & USB chargers at the desk and next to the bed (love that). Free WIFI at a speed high enough for streaming. But most importantly, every member of the team I encountered was lovely. They couldn't do enough for you! Karl at the front desk especially. Just amazing. Always happy, great smile, no request too much. However, downgraded one star for the room service. First night I had the cod with risotto. The cod was well cooked but the risotto was watery. Yes a risotto is moist but every time I stuck my spoon in there was more and more thin watery stuff. Not good. On the second night my steak was over cooked and they forgot the fries - and had to go back and get them. Disappointing. Finally how could your in-room breakfast offering not include a full English option? That was disappointing. It's very simple to have bacon or sausages, eggs and toast to the room, especially since it's served downstairs in the buffet. Why that was excluded in favour of fancier things is beyond me! Almost every hotel has this option! This was annoying.

New hotel right in the City Center a few minutes walk to the train station, main shopping area with bars and restaurants close by. Hotel is next to canal and is on a quiet street ( limited through traffic but does have tram traffic and slight noise). Rooms - well laid out - walk-in shower no soaking tub. Coffee / tea, lots of sockets, small closet, fridge and nice chair and ottoman. Blackout curtains and A/C. Given hotel is new rooms are in good condition although hallways (walls and carpets) already showing stains and marks. Housekeeping was pretty good - Was there a week and they changed sheets every other day which some more expensive hotels don't do. Communal space is very large and reflects new Holiday Inn lifestyle - bar, Starbucks, restaurant. You can pick up coffee and breakfast items to go which was great at weekend - bacon roll and coffee relaxing in bed reading the papers. Nice outdoor patio over looking canal where you can take your drinks - also smoking area. Weekdays mostly business people and some coach parties, weekends more families in to enjoy Manchester nightlife. Room location - I chose front as nice view but do have noise from trams. Back has no view. Would I stay here again - Yes

Great hotel, great location,great staff
Fantastic hotel with staff who couldn't do enough for us. The open planned restaurant area is great, especially if you want to work on your laptop, relaxed and the staff charming. My wife is currently in a wheelchair and we were provided an upgrade to a room with more space to provide greater comfort for us. Being a Celiac suffer their was plenty on offer to eat, with the chef willing to adapt dishes and a separate gluten free station with bread, rolls, cereal etc for breakfast. Again on request the kitchen provided a separately cooked breakfast to ensure no cross contamination. The hotel rooms are comfortable, the hotel immaculately clean with staff who couldn't do enough for us. Ideal location although as is often common for central city hotels there is no car park and finding your away around the Manchester one way system difficult.
