Misrepresentation by Aspery Hotel
Misrepresentation by the hotel, we booked four nights at the hotel when we arrived we were taken to a totally different building through a very narrow entrance where we had to take two flights of stairs with our luggage to get to our room, it felt like we were taken to a hidden inappropriate massage parlor. When we complained to the front desk they refused to change our room and give us room at the actual hotel building. The room was run down and dirty, the bathroom had mold in the shower, the shower had was about to come off the wall, the towels were old and frail, the mirror in the bathroom was to the right of the dirty counter top, which made my shaving very uncomfortable. Every time we came back to the room and had to walk through the narrow entrance of the building which was at the end of the alley next to the laundry company we felt great disappointment, but were left without a choice. We were not given any notice at the time of booking that we would be not staying in the actual hotel building where the nice lobby was. On the last day before leaving we discovered that the staff made the bed but failed to change the bed sheet from the night before. We would never stay at this hotel again and recommend that everyone avoid Aspery hotel. We have also discovered that hotel tour desk greatly overcharged us, compared to other tour locations, for tickets to the trips we took and a show.

Great staff, hotel needs a little money spent
This is the second time I have stayed at the Aspery. My check-in was speedy and friendly. I booked a junior suite which I knew would be in the main building. The room itself was as shown on the website, a large balcony, a good size bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The room safe was in working order as was the fridge and kettle. The room boasts a large Samsung TV which I assumed would be wi-fi compatable or mirror castable from other Samsung devices, it's not. The choice of TV channels is limited but, I don't go on holiday to watch TV. The A/C was adequate but not super chilled. It's enough to keep the room cool and isn't too noisy. The rain shower needs a really good going over with limescale remover, it's a bit of dribble and rather disapointing. My key card stopped working on the second day but, they fixed it by replacing the batteries in the door immediately so full marks for service there. I opted for the breakfast buffet which stops promptly at ten. The range of food is good and you can have freshly cooked omelette or other cooked breakfast items. They do a rather nice fried potato with onions and cherry tomatoes which I enjoyed. All the tea and coffee you drink too. The roof top pool never seems too crowded, you can usually find a sun-lounger and flake out for a few hours in the sun. I stayed for ten nights and I will be booking there again next year.

This is a dreadful hotel. The photos on Expedia, are taken many many years ago. The place is filthy, the exterior of the hotel is falling apart, that alone the obvious stains all over the exterior and interior... The pool " opens" at 08:00 which is later than any hotel I have yet encountered. But even at 8, the staff are then cleaning it, so either THEY GET UP EARLIER or you advertise the pool opens at 09:00hrs. Pigeons are constantly bathing and drinking from the pool, even when its in use. I wouldn't use that pool, if I were you. They have decided to add stupid concrete obstructions all over and in it, so laps are virtually impossible. The whole hotel is filthy and the other adjacent building, which is where they will put you unless you UPGRADE on arrival has no elevator. The small elevator there is in the main building is disgusting. Forget breakfast if I were you based on the lack of hygiene. They also will give you a SMOKING ROOM even if you ordered NON, they just put stickers inside the room, "NO SMOKING" . Bathroom are from the 80's dreadful. TV channels/TV so old it cannot be viewed. Air-Conditioning unit must contain god knows how many germs, as they clearly haven't been cleaned/maintained recently, if at all. Avoid at all costs..

Was good for what we wanted.
Hotel staff on arrival were very nice, when we went back to lobby a few days later to ask for help arranging a taxi for our day out the lady was not so nice and charged me to use her mobile per minute to organize it knowing full well I had asked for her help to translate what I required. I found her to be quiet rude and glad I did not have to speak with her the rest of my stay. Our room was not in the actual lobby building but in the building across the alley, meaning we were nowhere near the roof top pool or the lobby itself. The alley was loud at night as it contained massage parlors, hair dressers and a bar and we also had to walk through a massage parlor to use the lift to get to our room. We assumed that the Aspery was all joined together but it wasn't, we didn't use the pool very much because it was not close by. Room was cleaned every day and cleaners were friendly however as our room was the first room it was the last to be cleaned meaning it was loud all morning as they were cleaning other rooms. It was very close to Patong Beach and 5-7 mins walk from Bangla Road, however it was 2 minutes from out tattooist which is what we were ultimately there for which is why I booked her.

Five day Phuket visit
Quite disappointed with the Asprey. We have been to Phuket many times and it was always seen as one of the slightly better and more expensive hotels. How times have changed, the excellent breakfast they used to have is no more. Out of the 4 hotels we stayed at during our travels in the 3 weeks we were away this easily rates as the worst. The hotel gives the impression it is having financial troubles and scrimping on everything they can. The rooms had no shower caps or sanitary bags for the ladies. This was the first room we had dead cockroaches (not a big deal but noticed). Though it is Phuket so I'm not too surprised. .On a plus side the room was quite spacious and the bed very comfortable. They also begrudgingly allowed us an hour later checkout. Front desk staff were rather surly at check-in. Unlikely to return.
