Give it a miss
Proprietors were nice and friendly but the hotel itself was awful...just awful. 1970's decor, a shared bathroom with a dirty bath, hair in the plugoole. Water was either hot or cold. You got rained on while you went to the toilet. The window in the bedroom wouldn't stay open. To distract us from misery of the antiquated brown decor we though we watch TV, also from the 70's, but needless to say that didn't work either.

Room was comfortable and quiet perhaps a little dated, a decent tv and wifi would have been great other than that a good stay and great breakfast, staff were very helpful got tea there even though the kitchen was closing good meal and well priced.

Not a 3 start hotel
This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. Room and bathroom was in a very bad condition. Taps were leaking and bedsheets were dirty.

Acceptable for a night over, not to stay.
Very disappointed. £70 for a double room (2 single beds) with a sink (where the cold tap gave out warm water and the hot gave out scalding) a tiny old TV that looked to have been from the 70's, and a kettle. Bathroom is across the hall and you have to share it (looks to be 3 bathrooms and 6 rooms, can't say I was tempted to do a lot of exploring). The room has two connecting doors to other rooms that have since been locked and covered with curtains but the noise easily permeates between rooms. Can hear everyone walking up and down stairs at all hours. Reception is always unmanned, have to try the bar.unmanned always it seems) then the bar then had to wait around for someone to appear to give us a key. Decor is ridiculously old fashioned and so much could be done to the place to make it just a little more comfortable. For £70 we could've been in a travel lodge with a bathroom and everything you need, bit ridiculous. The only shining point was the food. Breakfast is free and a full Scottish and the chef on at dinner is fantastic. Homemade lasagna and hand cut chips, very nice and not what I was expecting with the rest of the place. Stay for a night if you absolutely have to but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than sleeping and leaving immediately in the morning.
