Good value option.
The buffet breakfast is great and the staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are small and disappointing. Room cleanliness was also below standard. The hotel location is great. Just 10 minutes walk to the old city gates and lots of great places to eat nearby. Overall it is good value for money, considering the cost of other hotels in Jerusalem.

Close to Damascus gate
Stayed there for two nights, used it as a base to visit jerusalem. Good breakfast, good wifi. Basic beds but slept well.

Horrible Bed-Bug. If you don't know it Google it. You will be surprise how that is seriously painful iching. No daily room clean.

Breakfast should start earlier. Most excursions started at 730am. And the breakfast at 7am. So with taxi and traffic too little time.

hi National Hotel was very impressive when you enter the foyer. the staff are OK, we had cold/warm water for three mornings consecutively in the midst of winter the supper was standard but very accommodating. location was not bad, walking distance to the gates. people need to be advised as there are nicer rooms that are located in different floors

Lovely hotel
The staff were lovely, very helpful and attentive. I stayed as a solo female traveller and would be happy to stay there again.

This hotel is near Damascus Gate outside of old city. If you are driving during daytime. There is lots of traffic and mostly one way roads. Hotel has free parking.

Great location & restaurant, late parking an issue
The hotel is easy walking distance to the Muslim Quarter of Old Jerusalem and easy walking distance to both Herod Gate and Damascus Gate. The food in the 4th floor restaurant is classic middle eastern food and absolutely delicious. Try the mint lemon shake! it's amazing. The mezze platter is a perfect light lunch for 2-4 people. The hotel is older, but certainly updated with modern touches. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although the showers in the bathrooms we rented were small for a larger person. We had one unfortunate experience with the night attendant when returning late from a dinner out. He stated that he couldn't open the gate for the parking garage and we were forced to park our rental car in the street, and it was very difficult to find street parking late at night. In addition, the person was rude and obnoxious and indifferent to our plight. Aside for this one individual, all other members of the staff were polite, attentive, and provide good service and help with all our needs. If you plan to bring a car, keep in mind that the parking area is gated and locked at night, and given our bad experience with the night attendant, it may be difficult access the parking area past midnight if there is only one member of the hotel staff (we were told he couldn't leave his post, and so couldn't unlock the gate for us to park our vehicle... a bit disconcerting, although another night attendant did open the gate when we arrived very late to the hotel for our check-in).
