Staff quite rude at reception
My partner and I are frequent travellers in the city for business and from the moment I walked in at 10:00pm, I felt uncomfortable. I went to check in and was told that my card would need a $200 holding deposit. Now I’m fine with holding deposits and know why they’re done, but I regularly stay at the sister site, 100 metres down the road and they only ever take $100. The reason I didn’t stay there was because the room I wanted was unavailable. So that was the first issue. The second thing was, the same lady (I don’t care whether she was a trainee or not) asked if I wanted parking to which I replied ‘yes please’ so she gave me directions. No mention of a fee for this or anything. So when I check out, the next rude lady says to me that I won’t be getting the full $200 back because of parking. I asked why I was not told of this (my partner stayed with me and left at 3am because of his job) and she just replied ‘oh the person who checked you in was new’ Now I’m a manager and if I used that excuse on my customers, it wouldn’t fly! She just replied ‘so you’re getting your deposit back minus parking’ no apology or anything! I won’t be back, I will continue to spend my money at the sister site, where Jeremy looks after me each time and makes sure we have a comfortable stay.

Good location, but old and tired
I was quite disappointed with my stay at bayview on the park. Staff were lovely but the facilities are very dated and need updating. The hairdryer is from the seventies and couldn't dry anyone's hair. I had a hairdryer sent up but had to use it out of the bathroom as the only plug in the bathroom did not have enough power to run it. Carpet is old and I kept thinking there was fluff on it, but it was worn out. The internet is so slow you can not even get a connection most of the time. There was condensation on the window in the morning. Had the heater on of a night and it rattles every time the fan came on. Used the gym but some of the equipment was broken. Had breakfast included which was nice, but only had pancakes on weekends. Used the iron in my room. Surprise surprise, the iron dials we're missing. Still able to use, but should be replaced. TV was small, most hotels I have stayed at have large screens. I could have complained but figured the rooms would probably be of a similar standard. We stayed for 7 nights and felt safe and comfortable and the staff were lovely and helpful, but an upgrade is in need.

Very good 8.0
Great motel but zero recognition for being loyal
My husband and I have stayed at Bayview On The Park every time we have gone to Melbourne for over five years. We always leave our room tidy, we never make noise and always respect the motel's rules. We stayed again on the 8th and 9th of December and were very disappointed with how we were treated by staff. We had paid for our room through Wotif and upon check in the lady that served us asked for a security deposit. I double checked with her how much she was taking out and she said one hundred dollars. When I said it was through cheque account she said it would be two hundred dollars. I asked her if that was really necessary as one time previously at this motel they had taken the two hundred dollar deposit and then I did not get it back for over two weeks. The lady at the counter laughed and said that it never takes that long for money to be refunded. I explained in that instance it had and offered to show her my bank account so she could be sure that we had the money to pay for whatever we used. I explained to her we have been staying at the motel for years and years and that I have never paid a bond since the time of the incident. We got zero recognition for being loyal clients and still had to pay the bond and then on check out before we got our bond back, the manager who was serving us actually left us to go and check the room. In the mean time two other rooms checked out and their bonds were returned without checking their rooms. Very disappointed!

Poor 2.0
Hi I stayed with my husband at Bayview on the park we booked in for 5 (five) days. We have stayed here before however this time afte 1 (one) day was told to pay for room service.. we were told we would pay at the end of our stay by hotel reception staff, so we decided to eat away from the hotel for the rest of our stay because of the rudeness from staff. The very next night I picked up my husband from hospital parked in the disabled park as my husband couldn’t walk far due to his surgery, we arrived back at our room only to receive a phone call to remove my car from the disabled car spot immediately, I have a disabled sticker quite visible on the left hand side of my window shield. I asked if they had gone and looked at the car, the answer was no. The staff knew quite well my husband was ill and had just had surgery but was met with very hostile staff telling me to move my car. I said no as we are well within our rights to park in a disabled park. My husband and I felt discriminated against because of his disability, hence we will never book with Bayview on the park ever again. My husband has a further 3 (three)major surgeries to have in the next few months however now I have the added stress of finding another hotel in close proximity to the hospital. I’m sorry but I’m totally disgusted in the treatment we received from your hotel. We pay up front every time we stay however we felt like we were being treated like we were going to leave without paying. All this added togethe

Generally a good stay.
The staff seemed a little stressed. Check in was a little messy and the phone rang and rang very loudly the entire time, which the woman adamantly ignored. She was the only person st the desk and it was really busy. But they were very polite and friendly. I felt like I could ask them anything and they'd be quick to help. The roll away bed is not comfortable. The room was a great size, though. The area outside the hotel is cramped and stuffed with cars. But the parking garage was an awesome feature, and I felt very safe leaving the rental car there. The restaurant is very expensive and the breakfast buffet wasn't really worth the money. The bar however has a great and friendly bartender who made some great drinks and the food was good and at a reasonable price. We didn't use the pool because it was cold, but the whole pool and sitting area was very pretty. Overall, it's not a hotel to spend the whole day at, but I'd recommend it to someone looking for clean, friendly hotel to act as a home base to explore the city. Oh! And check out the pamphlets of local attractions in front of the first floor elevators! There are so many unexpected and awesome things to do in Melbourne.
