Definitely not a 4*. Mediocre breakfast rooms are so outdated and furniture is grubby. Pool online said it was heated in winter this was not the case, it was like swimming in ice. When asked about it at reception they said it’s because their isn’t enough people in the hotel to warrant it being heated. How are they allowed to advertise this then? Toilet constantly made a sound unless you lifted the flush up. Bathroom was very standard.

Fantastic
Just wonderful. I rebooked 5 more days before the end of my stay. Great location, pool, and excellent value for money! Above all else is the employees. From the moment I walked in, Isabelle and Sarah stole my heart and made me feel at home instantly! All the other staff equally as friendly. When I read some of the negative reviews- honestly, I thought those guests must have been somewhere else! Housekeeping and the wonderful masseuse downstairs were no exception to this high level of service!!

4 nights room only fine. Reasonable price, although late checkout option would not have been. Anyone with mobility issues note this is on a hill between roads and lifts to not reach all levels.

Not as good as it once was
This was our 5th stay at Hotel Raga which is an affordable, well-located hotel in Funchal. Unfortunately, we've noticed quite a change in how the hotel is run after it was taken over by Muthu in 2017. The hotel just doesn't seem as friendly anymore, you can't get anything to eat by the pool and the bar there is constantly playing 'heartbreak' songs that put a bit of a damper on the mood. Further, when we first arrived we were put in a 'land-view', double room instead of the room we'd actually ordered which was a bit of a hassle. I really hate to say this because we've loved this hotel and stayed there so often, but it's just not as good as it once was.

Great to get away Hotel clean and we'll maintained All staff friendly and cheerful, covid protocol followed at all times Food plentiful but a little bit the same each day ( this may have been due to restrictions??) Excellent hotel for the price and in a very good location with all bars,restaurants and shops within walking distance.rooms are clean,spacious and beds comfortable with nice balcony and well worth paying a bit extra for a seaview.staff very friendly and courteous and when i requested a kettle for my room,one was provided without delay.nice pool side with plenty of sunbeds and nice patio to sit+relax overlooking the sea.cant comment on breakfast as i was room only but will definitely use this hotel again-maybe as early as next month!

Great hotel
Lovely modern hotel about 25 mins pleasant stroll into Funchal main areas. Nice spacious rooms with sea views, balcony, bathroom and seating area within room. Only issue we had was that the beds didn't have a mattress cover on a folded sheet which rucked up and became uncomfortable. This was only a slight niggle and it certainly wouldn't put me off staying here again.
