An excellent hotel overall. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful at all times. The rooms were beautifully appointed with high quality linens. Bed was very comfy and super super clean. The pictures online don’t do it justice in conveying how beautiful the rooms were. The rooftop pool is really clutch and beautifully decorated. Great location, the hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Getsemani and close to all major attractions. This area is so much more interesting than the Centro area and less stressful. It’s a good mix of backpackers and locals; lots of local eateries that give it an authentic feel. My only complaint is my room had low water pressure and no hot water that night. I told the staff the next morning and they were very apologetic and would look into it. I still gave it high marks because I’m sure they will fix it and it was hopefully a fluke.

Poor 2.0
Pretty hotel, poor service
The service was really bad, shockingly bad actually for a 4-star hotel. The person at the desk repeatedly interrupted our check-in process to take phone calls, and kept talking on the phone over our objections. Check-in literally took 45 minutes even though there was no line. The manager was summoned and she explained that they could not check us because "Expedia had not released the money" to them, even though I used to book the room. Another problem, the hotel listed (as of 11/16/18) "self-serve laundry" in its description. We chose the hotel in part based on that. But it was not available. Rather than address the problem or compensate us in any way, the manager gave us a very lengthy explanation of how it was not actually their fault, that it was actually a miscommunication between Expedia and Hint for hotel managers: your problems with Expedia have nothing to do with me. Stop blaming them for your problems and address your customer service problems with your actual customers. At no time did the manager apologize for the problems or attempt to compensate us. Also the hotel has NO HOT WATER for the showers, either in the morning or evening. They mistakenly forwarded one of their customers' phone calls to our room. On check-out, they tried to make us sign something sketchy about how we declined insurance for our stay. Not remotely a 4 star experience. It is a pretty building, but not worth it.

Good value in a convenient location
Be aware that technically it's located in the walled city but couple blocks away from the frequently visited area. Since we are locals we weren't afraid of walking but I can see how "tourists" might be at a slight risk. The hotel is lovely, very clean and the breakfast options are great. Most rooms don't have a window to the exterior and the pool in the roof-top is very small -more like a Jacuzzi. Considering how expensive Cartagena has gotten, this hotel provides you great value and a convenient location. We walked to La Torre del Reloj, Castillo de San Felipe and were two block from the famous Havana Cafe. One thing that bothered me is that I got charged an extra local tax worth roughly US80 for three nights that wasn't included in the estimate. Not a big deal, but I'm used to the exact number when booking thru this site.
