Very good 8.0
An older hotel which has been well-renovated in a pleasant style; excellent restaurant but room servicing was a little haphazard with things not replaced. More attention to detail desirable; otherwise staff friendly and helpful

Must Stay HERE !
Amazing! The only issue I had was our hair dryer broke 10mins before we checked out.

Very comfortable hotel, large rooms, great staff
This hotel has very large, very comfortable quiet rooms, and was the best accommodation we had in our 6 week trip to Europe. The staff were amazing, and helped with everything, but particularly explaining the local transport options to us. The hotel is outside the old city centre, but is actually well-located both to and from the airport (directly by train), and to the city centre and museum district and De Pijp by a short tram ride. The hotel sells transport tickets/passes at the desk. When we were leaving, the woman on the desk explained to us that there had been an electricity failure overnight and most transport in Amsterdam was cancelled, then she helped us find the one train that was still running, and said if it was cancelled, come back and she would find us other transport to the airport. Thanks to her clear advice, we opted to negotiate the transport chaos (in -4 degree weather) and made it to the airport in time. We would certainly have missed our international flight without her great directions since in the confusion everything had reverted to Dutch only. There is also a very good Indonesian restaurant just around the corner.

Small room but super nice !
The hotel is an old hospital that was built in the late 19th century And I must give credit to the person who has redesigned the rooms as it’s been very well done. The rooms are small but built in such way that you get the most out of it which was sufficient for me who was traveling alone. The rooms have high ceilings which already creates space but also the deco and lighting are designed for that plus I was lucky to have a room with a small balcony. I was traveling light but know that there is absolutely no space to put your suitcase. Not so practical when you’re a couple on a longer trip. Bathroom is small but practical and body wash and shampoo is from 1 large dispenser (a bit basic but better for the environment). Room has a coffeemaker and tea which is NOT mentioned here. I chose for a room On the street side and frankly, that was great, No crazy noise of traffic. Another big plus is that these blackout curtains are really blackout out curtains unlike in most 4 or 5 stars who advertise that. The staff is absolutely fabulous. They are super friendly and very helpful. There was a handwritten welcome note in the room with a small bottle of water and delicious dutch “stroop wafels”. That’s a nice touch ! All in all, I loved my small but greatly designed and decorated room.
