Watch out for car-park charges !
A couple of the members of staff outdid my expectations in terms of friendliness, taking a personal interest in my visit to Bristol, why I was there, etc. and made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest of the hotel. One of them went so far as to arrange for me to be given a complimentary fruit platter one morning, ‘ because they knew I had a busy day ahead of me ‘ which I appreciated. However, while this hotel says it has car-parking facilities ( and it does, NCP ones, attached to one side of the hotel building ) the convenience of this was soon outweighed by finding out how much I was going to be charged for parking a car there for the duration of my stay. Despite being told that hotel guests had a reduction in what would otherwise have been charged, I think the amount was excessive. By that time, I had already paid for the rooms months ago, and was unwilling to find new accommodation at that point, so I just paid. £70 ! On top of a total payment of almost £1,000 for two rooms, for four nights. I think this hotel should make it more clear when someone books here that there will be such a charge, or better still absorb it themselves seeing as the room charges are not exactly cheap. Another time, I think I would choose to do without the city centre convenience of this location, and instead book a hotel further out of town which has a plain, open, tarmac car-park area where you can leave your car without paying extra on top of your stay for the privilege.

Remember to bring your own Towels
The Hotel location is excellent. Basically it is located in the city centre and with walking distance we can reach the shopping mall, the Castle Park and all the different restaurants. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. However, we were totally upset the hotel's cleanliness. We stayed in this hotel for total 8 nights, the glasses and mugs were only cleaned on the first 2 days and after that, the dirty mugs and glasses were not replaced nor cleaned. What make our stay very unpleasant is, on the 6th day morning before we went out and started our day, a housekeeping lady came in and asked if she could help tidy up the room. Since it was almost time we went out so i asked the cleaning lady to come in and start cleaning. I saw that housekeeping lady using our towels to wipe the toilet bowl and the toilet floor. She then stepped on the pile of towels to clean her own shoes. I was stunned by what she did!!! It is completely disgusting!! I didn't complain to the hotel on that same day as I don't know she would do to our room if she knew that we are making a complain against her and i cannot take my 2 young kids to change hotel. To warn everyone here, if you decide to choose this hotel, bring your own towel. The one provided by the hotel cannot only use to wipe the floor.

Friendly staff and clean hotel
Overall a nice stay with friendly staff. A few things do need fixing in the room my friends and I stayed in - plug in bath wouldn’t stay up so had to remove it to allow water to drain, small mirror in bathroom was completely loose, toilet seat felt sharp when you sat on it, bathroom fan wouldn’t switch off - though these issues don’t effect the overall stay, it would be an idea for someone to tweak the finer details. Our key cards were deactivated for some reason - my friend did put her mobile by her key card for less than a second so not sure if this caused it. If it did Holiday Inn seriously need to consider updating their keys to withstand mobiles better. We asked for room service (extra pillow, duvet and mug as there were 3 of us, not 2) but it never arrived. Asked the next day and it took an hour. However when room service did arrive the staff member was very friendly. I would recommend this hotel as it was very clean. Just needs the details updating.

Good 6.0
The room space was good enough for 3 persons. But they provided a very thin mattress for the extra bed, dirty and thin, the extra bed could not be extended flat, the condition for a stay of 5 days was very bad. They cleaned up the room, at one time they did not provide enough cups and glasses for 3 people, the other time they forgot to clean up the rubbish bin. Left message to housekeeping, they did not know what I were referring to. The location of the hotel is next to the central bus station, there is a roundabout in between the hotel and the shopping area, you needed to drag a long way back after a whole day’s touring.

Exceptional 10.0
Overnight Bank holiday stay
The hotel is perfectly located in the City centre right opposite Cabot Circus shopping centre. Hotel is modern looking and has parking right next door, at a reduced rate, at the NCP car park. Our room for the night was a superior family room and it was very spacious with a fresh modern bathroom. We paid for the breakfast in the morning which was very well catered for with everything you would expect from cereals right thru to your fully cooked breakfast. Staff we encountered were very friendly. We did not use any of the other hotel facilities so could not comment on those. A very reasonably priced hotel, right next door to the main shopping area and close to local transport if you want to venture out and about. Although we walked from our hotel up to the Suspension Bridge Via the harbourside. Its quite hilly at points, especially Constitution Hill, but well worth it and do-able in about an hour. Enjoy.
