Excellent Hotel With Wonderful Staff
Our stay at the Novotel Silom was faultless. From the moment we arrived until the time we departed our stay was beyond good, it was perfect. The check-in was fast and the staff at reception and the concierge were friendly and courteous. Our room was an executive suite room and had all the mod-cons. The executive room was large and roomy with a separate lounge area, The room itself was kept in an immaculate state. Included in executive room package was a free mini-bar with beer, soft drink and chocolate. The bathroom was extremely large with a separate huge bath tub. Even a mobile phone that we could use when we travelled outside the hotel was included at no charge and calls were free. The breakfast buffet was good and the seafood dinner buffet even better with a large selection of both Thai and European food. The hotel itself is very clean, the pool crystal clear and the gym functional. The only criticism I had was the Lobby bar was a little sterile. Some mood music could fix this. The biggest asset to this hotel is it's staff. They went out of their way to help us and genuinely cared about us. My 5 year old grandson developed a very high fever and we had to rush him to hospital on our second night. The reception staff and concierge staff went over and beyond what I would expect from a hotel to help us get him to the hospital as quickly as possible. 5 stars from me.

Poor 2.0
Nasty Attitude
Overall there was a feeling, an attitude that I was staying there solely for their benefit. I was not treated as a guest. From the problem at check in because i was given a room with a broken glass wall behind the desk and as i had been told in great detail how my credit card guarantee would be kept for two weeks after my departure i was worried that on checking out i would be charged with the damage so when i requested to another room i had to wait in the uncomfortable foyer for 2 hours. The next day i decided to have breakfast at extra cost and the woman on the desk kept chasing me with a bill before i had finished as though i was going to run out without paying. Later i asked reception to borrow a pair of scissors to cut some papers in my room refusing my request i was told i could only borrow them if i used them at the reception. What i was going to steal a pair of scissors. And so it went on their attitude was that i was not a guest in their hotel. Well i can tell you i will not be again trouble you nor will i stay in any of their associated hotels. I ate all my other meals during my stay at the Holliday Inn across the street where the food was delicious, reasonably priced and they treated me like a guest

Poor 2.0
My own experience was atrocious. I reserved for a 3 night stay. First night needed to change rooms since shower was broken. Also water would not drain properly and would leak into the entire bathroom floor. Tech comes and acknowledged the problem along with the hot and cold water not working properly. They tell me either to change to a twin bed room (I reserved for a king) or that they would move me tomorrow. Fine I waited until the next day since they had promised me it would be available by 12 noon. The next day I call around 12:30pm and they tell me to wait since the rooms aren’t ready. I waited an hr until they changed my room. The new room smelled of smoke and ac was horrible. I called again and again they send someone over. The guy acknowledgedes the issues and they again propose the same offer as the day before. Only a twin bed room is available or wait until the next day. I was not pleased. The regular rooms have glass door to the bathroom so that you have no privacy and the higher tiers have diggers to solve this issue but not in the regular rooms. AC is horrible here. It doesn’t get cool in the room and showers are subpar too since water temperature cannot stay to one temperature during a shower. I obviously do not recommend this to anyone.

Exceptional 10.0
Novotel provided exceptional hospitality. So thankful to staff members Ploy and Bam especially were so helpful and showed such concern for our wellbeing, safety and to ensure we had a great stay. The bus boys were especially helpful ensuring we were getting good exchange rates on currency. It was truly lovely to know the staff cared so much to ask us how were enjoying our stay or if we needed help going places. They made great recommendations to ensure we had a great experience in Bangkok and helped with directing us around the city. The breakfast buffet had great options as well. The rooms were clean and gym a decent size for a workout with good views. Swimming pool offered a beautiful view of the city. Overall, great experience at Novotel and so thankful for the staff making it a lovely experience.

Staff makes up for the minor flaws
I want to give a shoutout to Chompoo (Shampoo) at the front desk. She displays professionalism yet making her service to guests very personal and friendly. Also, the other staff were polite and thoughtful. They make up for a couple of minor flaws to the room. Water pressure was not good and it'd be good if room comes with toothbrush/toothpaste. Otherwise, room is well-designed, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast spread and quality is good. I really like the lobby space and also the shuttle service that runs every hour to Saladaeng BTS Station. Within 200 m of walk, one can get to 7-11/family mart/Cafe Amazon/Starbucks/food/Bangkok Fashion Outlet/ the famous Skybar/ Gems & Jewellery street. To walk to Patpong & the main Silom Night Market is easy (just walk along the main road) but could take you 15-20 mins walk - don't mind if you just want to digest the yummy food you've just consumed.
