The property is old and set apart from main roads and crowds. The upgrades makes it a quiet place to get away from it all. The easy access to the beach and friendly village next door adds to the appeal. Staff are experienced, friendly and genuine. Food was much better than expected, especially when picked from blackboard menu with fresh fish and market produce.

Great staff, friendly and helpful. Our booking was mucked up the first night and they gave our bure away which wasnt nice after travelling all day then needibg to get back in a car and move to a next door resort. They did fix it by giving a free massage and meal however we had to fight for this when we came to the bill. They also tried to charge us for someone elses food and drink. Otherwise lovely place with lovely staff

Escape back in time
If you want authentic Fiji hospitality and isolation Crusoe Retreat is a beautiful resort and peaceful place to relax. It is a long drive to get there so Taxis are more expensive and to go anywhere else while staying there will cost more. We rented a car and figured it was worth it to have the freedom to see other areas when we wished to do so. The resort grounds are beautiful and they have beach and rocks but very shallow snorkeling. The food menu was limited but they try to accommodate but over a weeks period one gets tired of the same. It is a long drive to any other restaurant or resort. The rooms are nice and clean but only a bed and chair and small refrigerator. The help are very friendly but the service is very slow at meal time and limited choices.

The staff at this property were very helpful and friendly overall, and our stay was quite good. Unfortunately the manager failed to lodge our Covid rat tests or provide us with proof of our results which caused us problems and a lot of inconvenience later in our trip. It is a beautiful spot, a great place to relax and do nothing, but be advised that unless you have your own vehicle you will have no options for food or drink other than the resort (it is remote) and prices are very expensive. Also their associated tour operator - Deb's Taxis/Tours - are very expensive. Wanted to charge us $120 to travel just to Pacific Harbour. You are better off doing any activities from Pacific Harbour direct.

Amazing little resort which to be honest is hard to beat on the Coral Coast when you take in the prices, the location and bures. I'm reluctant to talk it up as we're been going there for 4 years now and want it to remain a secret!

Expectations managed, good stay
My expectations were managed, having read other reviews. I booked the Deluxe Seaside #1 and the air conditioning didn’t work and I didn’t have hot water. Everything is as dated and worn as other reviewers noted. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and the drinks were tropical and we had a pretty great stay. Good launch point for the Upper Navua River trip.
