Top neighborhoods in Gatlinburg

Downtown Gatlinburg

Downtown Gatlinburg bursts with family-friendly fun at every turn. The neon-lit Parkway buzzes with Ripley's attractions, arcades, and mini-golf courses against a stunning Smoky Mountain backdrop. Stroll between taffy shops and moonshine distilleries while mountain views peek between buildings. SkyLift and Anakeesta offer treetop adventures for those seeking heights and sights. Hotels with mountain-themed décor sit just minutes from the action. Grab pancakes at breakfast houses or sample local BBQ as you explore. The trolley connects major spots during peak seasons, but most visitors prefer discovering the pedestrian-friendly strip on foot.

Chalet Village

Chalet Village offers the perfect mountain escape with rustic wooden cabins tucked into the forested hills above Gatlinburg. Your mornings start with misty mountain views from a private deck, while evenings mean soaking in a hot tub under the stars. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park sits practically at your doorstep, with hiking trails and wildlife just minutes away. Most cabins come with full kitchens for cozy home-cooked meals after exploring. Downtown Gatlinburg's restaurants and shops are just a short drive down winding mountain roads. You'll definitely need a car to get around these peaceful, secluded hills where the only sounds are the whispers of the forest.

Chalet Village North

Perched above Gatlinburg, Chalet Village North delivers the mountain retreat of your dreams without the downtown commotion. Rustic log cabins and sleek chalets hide among dense forests, each with private hot tubs and killer views. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park sits right at your doorstep, perfect for hikers, wildlife spotters, and anyone who loves a good sunrise through the misty trees. You'll need wheels to get around these winding mountain roads since there's no public transit up here. The trade-off? Total peace after dark and space to breathe. Restaurants and shopping require a quick 10-minute drive to downtown, but most rentals come with fully-equipped kitchens for cozy nights in.

Learn more about Gatlinburg

Suspended between mountain wilderness and tourist kitsch, this gateway to the Smokies offers a peculiar charm. The aerial tramway whisks you to Ober Gatlinburg for year-round activities including summer alpine slides and winter skiing. Along the Parkway, moonshine distilleries offer tastings with entertaining histories that may or may not be entirely factual. Ripley's Aquarium showcases creatures far from their natural habitat, while the Space Needle provides views that explain why these mountains earned the 'Smoky' moniker. For a break from the neon and fudge shops, Great Smoky Mountains National Park begins where the pancake houses end. The SkyPark and Anakeesta offer treetop perspectives without the hiking, perfect for those who want mountain views with minimal exertion.

"We loved our visit from the time we checked in at the front desk to the time we checked out. Staff was friendly and hospitable, place was clean and well maintained. We were there during spring break and even though it was a crazy busy time that wasn’t reflected in our visit by staff or amenities. They kept up very well with the added guests and made a smooth visit. We look forward to going back again. "

"Our room had no handsoap. We asked the front desk twice, they said they would send some up. We never got any. The carpets were terribly stained. The shower is hard to make a comfortable temperature and gets scolding hot. At breakfast there aren't many options. By 8:30 they had no milk for the cereal, the biscuits were awful, they were out of most of the muffins and nothing got restocked. The hot tub was out of order and appeared to be indefinitely. The pool was fine. "

4/10 Poor
"Indoor pool was not heated and was very cold. Was told only 1 car per room. The sold out and allowed multiple cars per room also had sign that said no trailers and there were several in parking lot. Union check in was told they have a very strict parking policy and would tow if not followed. There was no parking Saturday night tried calling front could not get an answer tried at least 4 times. Parked along edge that had steep embankment beside it and 2 other cars . Walked to front desk and was told I needed to move to overflow lot up road. Asked why there was not room to park and why I should have to walk in the dark back to hotel. Was told by clerk they were sold out and multiple rooms had 2-3 cars per room. Asked if it was one car per room why were the extra cars per room permitted to park. He said they could park where they want. Explain where I was parked and he said I needed to move or be towed. Went to over flow and there was no parking. It was gravel lot and no definite parking spots. Cars and trucks just randomly parked and no room between any of them for a large SUV. Went back to room called the front desk and told them there was no room in the overflow I was parked on the edge next to embankment. There were non handicapped cars in handicapped spots. Cars parked blocking side walks on side walks. It was a disaster. Front desk clerk was very rude and offered no assistance. "
