Stay at your own Risk !!
Hotel appeared nice from outside but the next morning things started to unfold where in when we woke up in the morning we found stained sheets. Further to our disappointment one of the bed sheet was ripped like it was stuck into something and got ripped and nobody bothered to either repair or discard and decided to wash and re-use. We were there for holidays (4 nights) and straight after checking in went out and came in later very tired and didn't notice anything at that time but the next morning we had this bad experience. Anyway, we reported the matter to the lady at Concierge and she then called the duty manager Paul, who apologised and promised to discount the fifty percent of one nights charge along with immediate replacement of sheets and that was the end of it.There was nothing mentioned after that and on our 5th day of checking out we were paid fifty dollars in cash(not the fifty percent) with Hotel Staff mentioning such feedback help them to improve(not sure though how and what actions they took that it doesn't happen again). I'm feeling so disappointed that I don't want to write anymore and let the readers of this review decide themselves if they like to go to a hotel where they need to make sure themselves if everything is in order(at least that's how I felt for the rest of the 3 nights I stayed there) or to go to a place where they assured of best of the facilities without any worries. I still have the pics from that day if anyone interested to have a look.

Feels like a cheap motel - Would not recommend
My partner and I stayed at the Mercure Melbourne Albert Part hotel for 5 nights during December and we were very disappointed by the service & hotel. Good points The location of the hotel is decent. Situated between St Kilda beach and the city centre. There is a tram stop 2 minutes from the hotel. Bad points Despite the hotel lobby being nice and modern, the lift, hallway and bedroom are far from it. Once you get out the old lift, you'll notice the hallways are dark & grey, and have a really cheap feel to it. The room we were in had a bad damp smell. We complained about the smell and asked to be moved into another room but instead had someone from house keeping came and spray air freshener into the aircon. This covered the bad smell temporarily. We assumed they didn't have other rooms available. The bathroom condition is very poor. The bath tub in particular is extremely dirty with stains all over. The bathroom fan needs a good clean. You can clearly see the dirt and dust inside it. I wouldn't be surprised if it has mould growing in there. You'd expect this from a cheap roadside motel not a 4 star hotel. Despite having the 'do not disturb' sign at the door, house keeping would still knock on the door repeatedly in order to clean the room. When they did eventually clean the room they done a poor job of it. They left dirty towels in the bathroom, left empty toilet rolls and didn't hover the room floor. I would not stay in any Mercure hotel again. Very poorly managed and run.

    Poor 2.0
On arrival the hotel foyer was very contemporary and immaculate, that should have ben an indication of the room, however it was not. The rdception staff were pleasant and attentive, check it was fast and we were issued room 3041. Upon exiting the lifts and approaching the room the hallway had an unusual unpleasant odur. We were greeted at the room door by very dirty stains on the carpet, not a good start. Upon entry to the room first impressions were a tastefully decorated large room with 2 single beds and a queen bed ( I booked a queen room ), I opened the window drapes to reveal a view into a wall about 10 metres away, no view so drapes closedand lights turned on, I prefer natural light but had to settle for lighting. Turning on the lights revealed teh following: Stained/dirty marks on the entry wall,Stained carpet,Stained sofa,Tables dirty Bedside tables stained, the bedside drawer on the queen bed was held closed by adhesive tape that was itself broken and the drawer kept sliding open, who would fix a broken sliding door with basic sticky tape ? The wall behind the queen bed had floor to ceiling stains on the left side, disgusting. The carpet adjoining the bathroom tiles was lifting and frayed, I stubbed my toe, The bathroom tile grout dirty and mouldy on floor and shower The door rattled randomly all night as if a person was trying to enter the room, very annoying and in the morning it was obvious the door lock needed maintenance that would rectify the issue.

Unfortunately the girl at check in was just rather rude as soon as I had to aign paperwork and realised she was putting me in a "Standard Room" when I had booked a "Lake View Room". As per her request, I showed her the screen shot of my booking confirmation which even showed the room with the lake view in the background and she still chose to be smart telling me it "doesn't help her". I rrquested that she sort it out and give me the room I paid for. She still secretly put me in the standard room. Even the security guard was trying to come across all intimidating when I was stuck at the lift going through my athletics bag looking for my key pass. As soon as he realised my issue he walked offer without a word, juat attitude. I was staying for 4 nights competing in my National Championships and with no word of a lie, with all of my travels world wide, the bed was by far the 3rd worst I have ever slept on. No words can explain my anger to not only be ripped off financially but also from my much needed rest. Other athletes also staying at the same Mecure hotel stated the exact same experience with me. If money and sleep matter to you, do not lose it at this hotel.

Prime location, yet slightly underwhelming room.
The staff at the Mercure were absolutely delightful. Friendly, enthusiastic and extremely pleasant. Instant service from the moment we pulled up to the entrance slightly frustrated from the traffic on the roads and not not knowing where to park. The absolutely charming gentleman at the entrance offered valet service but also listed the parking options, gave very succinct directions on how to access the undercover parking and offered to take our bags before we had entered. (I wish I remembered his name- most enthusiastic and genuine customer service I've received). When we got into our room we were pleased, but noted it was nothing spectacular. Later we realised our bed sheets had multiple stains, sections of the room hadn't been vacuumed and the shower head in the bathroom could not be adjusted (with us needing to hold it up to shower). We also had some problems with our key cards (after returning quite late on our second night). For it's location, the overall cost was understandable, but I would like to think a little more cleanliness and reliability with room amenities would be included.I'd still recommend the hotel as this could perhaps be a one off (as I'd previously read quite pleasant reviews) and for it's location alone. Side note: if you enjoy a comfortable bath this is definitely not the place (if you go for a standard room).
