The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly!!!
The Ugly: • Room not properly cleaned and other peoples hair all over upon arrival and thereafter -1 • 2 pet birds squawking relentlessly each morning in middle of hotels courtyard -1 • Bedsheets unchanged as advertised just made bed leaving all stains and hair from previous night etc (even though card to leave them was not placed) -1 • Doors have big gaps allowing the many mosquitos, noise, and neighbors smoke to enter -1 • Friend had confirmation and they did not have a room for him , other got wrong room config -1 • Crying/barking dog making all sorts of noise -1 • Elevator is crazy slow and a hotbox sauna -1 Good: • Location +1 • Breakfast +1 The Bad (not subtracting points to be fair): • tried to put a tip (propina) on your bill (about $16 for 4 nights) • Charge for more than one guest (apparently common) • Room feels like a dungeon • Pool is tiny • Door locks are joke and some door jams allow opening with simple credit card (not secure) Conclusion: (+2 -7= -5)Should be a -5 rating, I would never stay there again :(

    Fair 4.0
Very disappointing. Won't stay here ever again!
Of the 3 hotels, we stayed in Colombia, this one was by far the worst based on their customer service and room clenliness. The hotel room itself was not what we expected. The only window we had was facing the hallway. The bed sheets were dirty, so my girlfied called reception and had them change the sheets. Having said that, the new sheets were not much better than the ones they replaced. The A/C remote was so filthy you wouldn't want to touch that thing. The remote control for the TV was not working. The staff that came to check it out simply told us to use the controllers on the TV itself. When we arrived 45 minutes early (check-in time was 3:00pm) the hotel staff refused to let us check-in. While I realize that the cleaning staff needs time to prepare the rooms, that didn't seem to be the real reason why we were not allowed to check in. When I asked why we couldn't check in early, the reception staff simply stated that we'd have to come back after 3:00pm. They did however offer us to leave our luggage at their storage. Having said that, I can't remember the last time a hotel refused to allow me to check in early simply because that was their "policy". It was very dissapinting to say the least. I realize these are all little things and didn't affect our stay in Cartagena that much, however this was not a cheap hotel by any means. The only positive was the complimentary breakfast. The food was good and the kitchen staff was excellent.

    Weekend with Friends
Stayed for a long weekend with friends. We had the 2 rooms on the 2nd floor overlooking the street (with balcony). The balconies are small but they are over one of the busiest streets in the old town. Please keep this in mind as the room gets loud on Friday and Saturday nights. However, we were there to party so we were not bothered and welcomed the sights and sounds. The hotel is also across the street from a 24/7 grocery and pharmacy. The rooms and hotel exude an old character which is reflective of its location. The beds are a little hard but definitely tolerable. The bathrooms were clean and modern. Breakfast was delicious and bountiful.

    Very good 8.0
Overall I enjoyed this hotel however there were small issues with the stay. First was that even though we booked almost two months in advance, the hotel waited till the day of check in to email me (in spanish) saying that they were unable to accommodate us and that they transferred our reservation to another hotel 10 minutes (car ride) a way that we had looked at but did no meet our needs. After spending 20 minutes disputing this with them, they were magically able to accommodate us. My mother accidentally broke a glass in the room on our second day there but yet on day six the remaining glass was still on the floor which means they didn't sweep. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was friendly. It is in a great location! Although we had little issues, I would stay here again.

    NOT FOR SOLO Travelers!!!
This hotel is not good for solo travelers. Very family focused. Noise of kids in the pool all day long. Paid for double occupancy, yet was still charged when I brought a guest in by nightwatchman, he was just pocketing 90,000 and running a scam. Also, brought in my own waters and cokes from across mercado across the street and was charged for the waters and cokes i brought in. Staff does not know the difference between hotel provided drinks and personal provided drinks. The only thing good about this experience was the location. I will seek a more solo traveler friendly upon my next trip.
