Exceptional 10.0
So, it took us ages to find a hotel that had decent reviews on a budget. We're normally a 4 star hotel kinda couple, so we wanted a good 3 star. And we can't fault Hotel Viator at all. First of all the room: plenty big enough, shower and hairdryer were good and powerful (I have very long hair, so this is important to me!), bed was comfy and we had a good night's sleep every night. No noise, from the street or from other guests; the room we had was very quiet. Some wardrobe space, decent sized TV, room very clean. It was a pleasure to 'chill out' in this room when we were recuperating from our escapades. And, always a bonus for me, there were plug sockets next to the bed! We saw 4 different staff members on the front desk during our stay, and 3 of them were super friendly and helpful. One was a little less 'invested' and seemed a little miffed that we didn't speak much French, but he wasn't rude or anything. There is always someone on the front desk (we came back to the hotel past 1am on a few nights), so no problems in getting access to a member of staff. The housekeepers were thorough. And lastly, the location is great. Right next to the Gare de Lyon station which links to absolutely everywhere. It's on the line directly to Disneyland. And direct link to the airport. Made our trip so much easier, that we knew we had a transport link to everywhere we wanted to go. This hotel is super reasonable for pricing. Plenty of other 3 star hotels charge more for a much worse prov

Poor 2.0
My husband and I chose this hotel because the photos looked beautiful and the reviews were good. Know that the pictures on the website are just for show! I have no idea how the reviews were good at all. Our room was incredibly small (European standard I know) and was so very hot (and the temp. outside was only 71/60 degrees)! The hotel claims to have A/C, but ours was on the lowest temp allowed and had NO air coming out. We were on the 1st floor, so opening the window to get air in was incredibly noisy! The bathroom was ~3'X6' & the shower was so small that you can barely bend over to get toiletries from the floor (no shelves). Water seal on shower door was peeling off. Toiletries outside of shower had to be put on the floor because there were NO countertop spaces at all. When we asked about the lack of A/C and air flow in our room, we were told to open the keep the window AND door open....really?? We asked about another room and were just told "No.". Also, they make you give them your room key anytime you are leaving the hotel and you have to wait to get it back when you come back to the hotel. We had to find a hardware store and buy a fan to get any air movement in the room. We contacted Expedia asking about changing hotels b/c we were so unhappy at the Viator. Expedia did not answer my request at all. We were stuck since we had already paid for it. Unless you are staying there in the dead of winter and are okay with tiny, dated spaces....DO NOT STAY THERE!!!

Nice hotel, close to bars and restaurants.
Went to see Phil Collins at AccorHotels Arena so only stayed 2nights. Hotel very quiet, very good air con especially as it was 30+ degrees! Staff friendly and polite. Room was very clean and although small more than adequate for our needs. Comfortable bed.Good powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Only very minor moan was that you had to squeeze past the loo to get to the shower. Very small lift, probably not good if you're claustrophobic but we were only on the first floor so used the stairs. We had breakfast out so cannot comment on the food. Chilled cabinet in lobby with soft drinks, water and wine (pay at reception).Plenty of information leaflets and maps at reception (24 hour) and a place to leave luggage before/after check in/check out. All in all very pleased.

Excellent location for visiting main attractions
Family city break. Arrived early and left our cases to go explore Paris and check in after dinner. Disappointed when we checked in to find our two double rooms were on different floors, 5th and 7th, even though my special request had been for adjoining rooms. The hotel was full and it was late so not much we could do. However, in the morning the lady on reception spoke better English and was able to move one of our rooms up to the 7th floor so we were together, as someone had checked out. Oh if you're not fit ask not to be on the 7th floor (top floor) as the lift only goes to the 6th floor. Rooms were clean and spacious as were the bathrooms. Gare de Lyon metro / station are 5 minutes walk and plenty of places for breakfast and dinner. 10 minutes walk to river Seine and across to Jardin de Plantes for Batobus stop on Seine.

Nice Hotel Close to Gare de Lyon
We stayed one night at the hotel and found it perfect for our needs--clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and close to Gare de Lyon metro and train station for onward travel. The breakfast the next morning is 10 Euros and worth it--fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, cheeses, bread and pastries and nice coffee--plus it was easier to eat in than go out. Around the corner and just a few minutes down the street from the hotel is a very nice crepe restaurant--Les Embruns--that we recommend for an evening meal if you're staying in the hotel. The restaurant has a great prix fixe menu, and the food is wonderful. The place does fill up quickly, though, even on a weeknight; the French seem to love the food there, too! So, if you're looking for a nice hotel and nearby restaurant with easy access to the Gare de Lyon, do consider this one!
