Exceptional 10.0
Cozy, quiet hotel
Cozy hotel, perfect area, VERY helpful staff and diverse hotel guests! Loved the rooftop pool and morning buffet!! The hotel was in the area of the big, expensive hotels and on a quiet street. Two irritating things...closet door wouldn't close all the way and light stayed on and overheard showerhead didn't work (very minor and didn't complain). Really enjoyed my stay there!

Quiet Boutique Hotel
We really enjoyed staying at this hotel - it was a real home away from home in a bustling city. First, know this - it is down a fairly quiet "soi" and about a 6-7 minute walk from Sukhumvit, the main commercial street near public transit (buses and Skytrai ). The hotel has a tuk-tuk and they happily shuttle you to Sukhumvit at any time, but you'll either have to walk or call to summon the tuk tuk when you're in your way back. We only found this to be an issue on days where we had already walked 10 miles! The facilities, room, breakfast, and staff were all excellent. The rooftop pool is a great escape from the city! Our room was great - I really loved the shower. Breakfast was buffet style (eastern and western) and had a made-to-order omelet bar. The room and hotel were quiet and peaceful. However, some of Bangkok's largest shopping malls are one and two Skytrain stops away. The closest supermarket is in the basement of the office tower where the tuk tuk drops you off. There are several restaurants along the Soi where the hotel is. Lastly, Soi 4 (one street over) is a party scene that you don't need a taxi to get to. All in all, a great place to stay!

Good 6.0
Linty towels
Pros: Staff is courteous. Located in great area of Bangkok if you want to shop. Service is fast. Spacious room. Cons: Far from main street. Feels a bit older than other hotels. Restaurant closes at 6 PM. It felt like I was nickeled and dimed for minor things. For instance, here are two types of coffee in the room. The instant coffee is free. The coffee pods aren't. Read the fine print. They also charge you 20 baht if you ask them to call a taxi for you. Most importantly: LINTY TOWELS. I could forgive just about anything else, but there's nothing worse than emerging, fresh as a daisy, from a shower only to dry off and see that your towel has left you covered in lint. Lint in your hair, your beard, on your face, on your back, and in your hair down there.... All the bath towels were like this. I ended up having to dry off using a hand towel, which is no small feat considering I'm 1.92 meters tall. Inexcusable.

Great staff, great food and a rooftop pool to boot
Had a great stay at Hotel Solo. Was dropped off there during the middle of the night right from the airport, which was a weird first impression because it's on kind of a dark side street (and it was our first time in Bangkok), but once we walked in and were greeted by the staff our concerns vanished. Everyone who worked there was super nice and sweet, clean room with pretty cheap beers in the fridge, nice shower, and the rooftop pool was great...kind of small, but great! Also the breakfast was awesome and very reasonably priced! As far as location, it's pretty easy to get everywhere in Bangkok from there, especially if you're doing things in the sukhumvit area, and also it's located right by a BTS (sky train) stop. Definitely recommend staying : )

Poor 2.0
We chose this hotel to spend a few days in Bangkok. Regret this decision unfortunately. Location is quite a hike or cab/tuktuk from nice restaurants and tourist sites. One street over from hotel is red light district. The electrical in our room sparked the lights a couple times and the lights would just turn themselves on/off Willy nilly. We got staff to come look at it and were just told that there were certain light switches for us to avoid. Also we were in the stairwell and tried to exit and the door handle came off right in my hand, that seemed like a safety hazard. Also, the door to our room didn’t close proper behind us when we left and we’d have to give it an extra pull before it shut and locked - we told the hotel and nothing was done. Multiple surfaces in chairs/couches were stained- was a little gross.
