NH Collection Firenze Porta Rossa

I've stayed at other HH Collection properties and I'm afraid that this one is just not worthy of carrying that moniker. This hotel is extraordinarily noisy making it difficult to get any rest day or night. From the 24 hour thumping, whirring, rumbling elevator noises to the hotel cleaning personnel who never seemed to be off duty and took much delight in banging up and down the hallways with carts and equipment, our stay was exhausting. Street noises too were difficult to restrict even though the hotel is equipped with wood shutters in addition to the usual drapery. Also in sharp contrast to other HN Collection properties, this one is in desperate need of basic repairs and maintenance. It seems a bit run down. Our room was strangling outfitted with an old wardrobe and a small, single desk, so there was absolutely no place for two people to place their luggage. The bathroom was very odd. I appreciate that it's an old building and some compromises must be made, but shoehorning a bathroom into a space more fitting to be a long c-shaped closet is pushing the limits of what's acceptable. At checkin, we were reminded that the breakfast was not included in our stay but I was told that I could prepay if I wished to add this to our stay. When I declined, I was aggressively advised that I would face additional charges if I changed my mind. It felt like a bullying/threatening/money grabbing tactic. Last complaint at checkin our room was not ready and there was a major reservation

We stayed for 3nights for my girlfriends birthday and had an amazing experience. Having never been to Florence before as you can imagine I had a lot of questions. Francesca (guest relations manager) was very helpful with providing me all the required detail of the city and so quick at responding. We arrived on the Friday and Francesca had arranged for a glass or prosecco to be bought to our room as a surprise. Along with the staff singing happy birthday with a cake at breakfast it's safe to say my girlfriend had a great day! If you are looking for somewhere in the heart of the city but with piece and quiet when you close your door coupled with a professional and friendly service this hotel is a must!

The room was clean, updated and the beds were very comfortable. The location was very hard to find. We finally gave up, parked and called for someone to come get us. An independent parking garage is on the street behind the hotel. The personnel was very kind and helpful. The restaurant menu was limited and on the expensive side for a hotel. There were several choices within walking distance. Breakfast is not included. There is no exercise room. Overall, a little pricey with few amenities. The building is a nicely renovated historical location dating from the Middle Ages and the Florence merchant class.

It is definitely a 5 star hotel - great location, kind staff, clean room and comfortable bed. I have minor complaint about the noisy of the fridge. Because the fridge is not covered, when it works, it generates quite loud noise, in particular at night. I have reported to the hotel staff and they dealt it promptly. I only booked a standard room, so no bath. I will book a better room next time. A bonus point is the restaurant food very delicious!

Centrally located and classy hotel with impressive architectural details , excellent breakfast facilities and an exceptionally helpful staff . The wonderful chief of maintenance resurrected my suitcase back to life when a critical wheel become non functional .Rooms were quiet, tastefully furnished and restful .Would definitely stay at this delightful hotel if visiting Florence again .
