    Not what we thought..
We heard so many good things about this place so we decided to try it out for two nights. Its just outside the Wall city, and in a great neighborhood. Here are the bad parts: 1. A/C- Our air conditioner is a mini split, it didnt get the room cold enough for us to be comfortable. I will say that it worked, but for a junior suite, it was not sufficient. They offered us another room, but that room was also hot, and we didnt want to wait an hour or so to see if the mini split in that room worked well enough to cool down the entire room. 2. Power outage- They had a power outage in the middle of the day for 3 hours. We had no A/C. Not sure if its the hotels fault, but it seemed like we were the only ones effected. 3. We bought a couples massage and paid for it with tip, however the area they had us to the massage was terrible because they are doing construction on the bottom floor. We heard saws, and hammers the entire time. Every morning we heard construction from the morning til late afternoon. It was def. not an escape for max relaxation or just any relaxation. The service was good, the food was okay, but I can't get over the volume and the lack of cold rooms.

    Poor 2.0
    Terrible customer service, bad experience
While Casa Lola is a nice hotel with comfortable amenities, the customer service truly lacks. I had an unfortunate experience with the "free massage" provided by the hotel. During the massage, the two masseuses commented back and forth to one another about how I was "gordita"... aka chubby/fat girl. Obviously this is extremely hurtful to hear. The women assumed I didn't understand any Spanish, which was not the case. Regardless of language differences, it is extremely unprofessional to talk about customers' bodies AT ALL, especially while they are right there. Masseuses with such lack of common sense and customer service should not be hired by a hotel who prides themselves as "luxury". Furthermore, when I discussed the matter with hotel reception staff they assured me that they would contact me after discussing the situation with the masseuses and hotel management. I told 2 different members of staff about the experience and they both said claimed would talk to management and follow-up. After checking-out, I never heard a word from Casa Lola. While the damage was already done and irreversible to my feelings an self-esteem, it would have been nice to at least hear an apology from management about a situation that should have never happened. The lack of reaction speaks volumes about how much they care for customers and the service they provide.

    Exceptional 10.0
Beautiful property. They were very welcoming. The staff was always kind and helpful. They help you even if you don’t know much spanish. The decor is gorgeous. My room was a little small, it did not bother me at all. Perfect for one person or a couple. The pool on the roof top was gorgeous. They are small but it’s perfect for relaxing. The restaurant inside is beautiful as well, didn’t get the chance to eat there though. It is next door to Havana Cafe and a plaza That has entertainment going on through out the day. Many places to eat and bars and lounges. The only complaint I would have is I heard the music in my room all night until about 4 am but maybe that was because I was in room 1 the first room. I only have good things to say about this beautiful hotel and I would love to go back!

    Such a gem!
Fantastic hotel with really cool decorations, old world charm meets modern chic and really cool architecture/design of the space. I mean, theres water cascading down and streaming through the middle of the hotel after all! Roofdeck is unbelievable makes you feel like a movie star with multilevel lounging and two pools with views. We spent more time up there than anticipated particularly at night - and they brought us up a complimentary espresso right to poolside! Next morning eat a nice breakfast in the large courtyard that feels like a well-kept jungle with a beautiful open air setup, massive tree and hanging plants, water fall and stream through the middle of it all. Staff all spoke English very friendly and honest and helpful. Very comfortable rooms, nice bed, good AC. The hotel has all these nooks and artwork and antiques and cool common spaces to explore like a livable modern art museum. Great location in old part of the city just a few minutes walk across the plaza to the main squares of the wall and all those shops and cafes etc. Unbelievable value. Will make sure all my friends stay here when they visit Cartegena!

    Exceptional 10.0
I cannot recommend Hotel Casa Lola enough, it truly has been one of my favorite hotels that I've stayed at so far. If you're looking for a charming and trendy boutique hotel to spend your week in Cartagena, then this is it. When we arrived, we were greeted with a welcome drink and were absolutely in awe of the inside interior. From the street, it looks like just a simple door but when we walked in we were astonished. Not only is the interior design beautiful and unique but the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. All of the staff that we interacted with at the pool, restaurant and reception were extremely personable when they greeted us and made us feel right at home. Among the amenities is a rooftop pool as well which was key, and they just opened a restaurant which is definitely on my recommended list for any friends who plan to visit Cartagena in the future whether they stay at this hotel or not. The hotel is located just outside the wall which at first did make me hesitant, but to be honest its still in a really tame, safe location right in the midst of a lot of popular bars/restaurants and it was actually a breath of fresh air to leave the walled-in area with aggressive vendors constantly trying to sell things to you. Highly, highly recommend!
