    What Joe Thinks

Service and food at breakfast were excellent. We struggled with the complicated security system. Room was very tired, bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Free parking and wifi. History of the building very interesting. We would stay there again.

    Stately piece of English countryside

Lovely old manor house set between Leicester and loughborough. Easy to find and plenty of free parking. We arrived to find we had been upgraded to a really lovely suite with a balcony and huge bathroom. The bar is great serving a range of light meals and craft beers. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and is sound. Would recommend for couples. Not super kid friendly and no lift.

    OK Stay

The staff were really nice and the food was good. The place is very tired and in desperate need of a refit.

    Looks good, isn’t.

This place looks so good outside and it’s quite impressive in the lobby areas but the room didn’t live up to reasonable expectations at all (particularly as I’d upgraded to a so-called ‘superior’ room and this is not a cheap hotel). I found the WiFi very annoying, the lack of any help on that as annoying (bearing in mind there is no mobile signal so you need the WiFi to call home). Also when my wife ‘phoned to see if I’d arrived ok (whilst I was trying to get the WiFi working) she was met with a list of options, none of which got to me or gave her the option of talking to a person who could get to me. I won’t be staying here again unless they do some serious renovation and make some customer-oriented changes.

    Friendly and helpful staff

I booked my stay to be close to my mum as she had tested positive for Covid. It was quiet and relaxing environment and I was particularly impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The evening waiting staff of Macaulay, Pauls, Clare and Mollie worked hard but still retained good humour and made sure people were happy with their food. I found the evening menu good as was the quality of the food. Breakfast was disappointing- too many carbs and sugar as part of the continental breakfast. Rothley Court is a listed building and because of that maintenance costs must be high and this is sadly reflectin the rather neglected state of parts of the hotel. They must be loosing heat in massive amounts by badly closing windows. I feel also that more could be done to introduce eco lighting and outside lights being switched off at a set time rather than left on overnight.

    Weekend stay

Room was shabby, shower curtain stained plaster missing from the bathroom carpet stained and not very clean all round At breakfast the coffee was Luke warm, then the full English breakfast came out and it was barely warm enough to eat the black pudding cold everything else just tepid for £100 B&B this was the worst value hotel I have stayed in for a long while. The staff didn't seem to care, if you don't need the location stay elsewhere

    Lovely break

The hotel has wonderful history and character making it a special place to stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfasts. We had scalding hot water - coming out of both taps - hopefully they have fixed this. We enjoyed a relaxing weekend there and in non-rainy weather would be lovely to sit outside for a drink to enjoy the grounds and views.
