Golden Tower Hotel & Spa

My husband and I have just returned from a stay at the Golden Tower Hotel and Spa in Florence (8-13 July), where we were celebrating a wedding anniversary. We loved Florence and were very impressed by the Golden Tower. It is a small but luxurious boutique hotel in the heart of the old city. All the major sites are within short walking distance and yet the hotel is beautifully peaceful; and you can relax after a day of rambling around the city with some time in the small but well-appointed spa. We have stayed in a number of 5-star hotels around the world and this one meets the usual high standards you'd expect in terms of the quality of the rooms, the facilities and the food; but the hotel offered some added touches that we enjoyed. These included a complementary mini-bar in our room and the use of a 'handy' mobile phone (the latter could be used to make international calls to the UK and to look up useful local information). However, we were most impressed by the hotel staff: everyone was friendly, attentive and happy to help with any queries. We also very much appreciated the special lengths to which the team went to in order to ensure that our wedding anniversary was memorable (thank-you especially to Fabiola and the chef in the restaurant for all the lovely touches for our anniversary dinner!). We would love to come back to Florence and would definitely stay here again - it's the perfect bolt-hole for exploring the city!

What a fabulous stay from start to finish! We were made to feel so special from the minute we arrived at the hotel, greeted with Prosecco and shown around the hotels spa and dining areas. Our room was lovely, it was nice and spacious, the bed was really comfortable and each night the staff came and placed a little biscuit on our pillows. It’s the small things that go a really long way when you are on a special holiday and none of the little touches went un noticed. Each day as we were Expedia members we had a glass of Prosecco waiting for us at the bar as well as a ‘snack bar’ between 6.30-8.30pm and this was a very nice treat. As it was our honeymoon the hotel came up to our room one day and brought us a bottle of Bottega and some cake...this really made our stay a stand out as it’s a once in a life time moment celebrating the start of your marriage and we felt it was a really kind touch. The location is perfect, right in the heart of everything and the staff can never do enough for you. If you want a very special stay in Florence do not think of booking anywhere else. Loved every minute of it, thank you so much! We wish we could of stayed longer :)

This hotel is amazing. My friend and I have just returned from staying five nights at the Golden Tower Hotel and Spa and would not hesitate in staying there again if we returned to Florence. The staff were truely impeccable and so incredibly attentive and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was full of a wide variety of food and drink (including vegan, gluten free and prosecco!). We attended the daily early evening aperitif session, where the friendly hostess would bring you complementary drinks and a wide range of nibbles. The staff at reception were helpful in reserving us tickets for the Accademia and Uffizi galleries so we could avoid long queues. Nothing was too small and the attention to detail by the cleaning staff did not go amiss. One other thing, it was also in the perfect location to walk to everything! Book this hotel now - you will not be disappointed!

First the positives: great location, short walk to mostly everything. Gorgeous property, accommodating staff, delicious complimentary snacks in lobby (cakes and sandwiches), free mini bar in our room (went crazy at first but novelty wore off soon enough), incredible spa! Metilde at the front desk was exceptional. The only negatives were a broken a/c unit in our room which made an annoying ticking sound and kept me up the first night. They tried to fix it the next day and suggested we not use the fan on the highest setting which we did the next night and it was better. In addition, they were prepared to move us to a new room but it had a smaller bed so we opted to stay and use the fan on a lower setting. Overall, it was one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed in.

Our room(s) were beautiful and the staff was the most helpful. I say room(s) plural because they upgraded us to a better room our first night and an even better room our second night. What's more, they moved all of our things and placed them perfectly in the new room while we were out exploring Florence. The front desk helped us with directions, reservations, and even with a route to Siena by vespa. The staff went above and beyond. You also get breakfast and an apertivo (cocktail hour drink) included with your stay. That was a really refreshing surprise. The location of this hotel can't be beat as you are steps from the river and uffizi gallery. We will definitely return to this hotel when we come again. Oh, and the spa was amazing. We tried out the spa our first day and had a lot of fun. The facilities were clean, functional, and it was all very relaxing and romantic. You should stay here!
