Had to book another hotel it was that bad
We had booked 2 nights with the citrus but could only last one. We ended up booking our remaining night in the park inn by radisson across the road. When my pregnant wife and 9year old arrived at reception and i parked the car they were met with a number of very drunk ladies on a hen night. Who had been told they could smoke inside the hotel aslong as they stood by the front doors. The man at reception was shouting and swearing which was completely unprofessional. We went up to the room and one thin people should be aware of is that the windows do not open and there is no aircon (this weekend is the hottest in wales on record) so the room was roasting and had a stale Body odour and stale smoke smell too it. They had provided 2 fans to try and cool things off but that didnt help the smell. A piece of the suspended ceiling then fell to the floor as it was held in with 1 nail. I took this too reception and was told the people upstairs must be having a party and that was it. You will see from the photos to bathroom was filthy, their was an oil leak in the towel radiator. No desire from staff to assist as more interest having a laugh with anyone who appeared to walk in drunk. This may be a brilliant hotel for those having a night out but it is not a family hotel at all and is in dire need of aircon and a refurb.

Very good 8.0
Perfect location, not bad rooms
Booked this for our concert night at Motorpoint. Perfect location for Motorpoint and a short walk to centre of town. The rooms are big. Abit basic in de or and the reflective film on the Windows has seen better days! Because of the massive windows the rooms do get pretty hot in summer and u fortunately no aircon. We were given 2 fans in the room that helped but it wasn’t until early hours if the morning that it became more comfortable. We were also given bottles of water because of the heat so don’t know if that’s a usual thing. We didn’t use the breakfast facilities so cannot comment. The single beds are on the narrow side but really comfortable. Only one pillow though so you may need to ask for another as no spares in the wardrobe. Nice big tv in a good position at the end of the bed. Lots of tea & coffee sachets with the kettle. A good pub next door although we didn’t have time to go in. Very limited parking do we parked in the NCP multi storey just before hotel which apparently is cheaper! £14 for 24 hours great if you want to go into town the next day and hotel has a luggage room.

Complete disappointment
We arrived rang the buzzer 5 times no answer then a member of staff appeared from the side entrance and was extremely rude spoke to me as though I was thick and told me I had to press the buzzer to be let in which I explained I had 5 times, staff member said oh right but I had no apology for the way she spoke to me. Entered the building where member of staff continued to make me and the kids feel uncomfortable the kids even asked if we had to stay I reassured them and said don't worry it will be fine when we get to our room. Staff member on reception really friendly explained where our room was so off we went entered the room and well all I can say is thank god it was only for one night. The room had a funny smell, the carpet was so badly stained and looked filthy I told the kids to keep there socks on at all times and not to walk on the floor barefoot, the beds were uncomfortable it looked like they had made a box out of mdf and chucked a mattress on top that was no thicker than 6 inches. We didn't stay for breakfast so can't comment on that we just wanted to leave as soon as we got up. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay here again which is a shame as its a perfect location for the motorpoint arena, shopping centre and train station.

Awful stay!
We were misinformed about the car parking. we were lead to believe that hotel customers would have parking however when we arrived we were told all the parking spaces was taken and therefore we would have to find alternative parking. Seeing as we were checking in at 9pm after a long journey- this is not what we wanted. Especially as I chose the hotel based on its parking availability! When we finally got to our triple room- the lights weren’t working. We called reception who said maintenance weren’t available but we could have an alternative room. We were given a double room, although we had booked and paid for a triple room....because there were no more family rooms available! We were moved to another room and given the swipe card..which were not activated so AGAIN We had to go back to reception to get this corrected. An awful checking I experience. Hotel clean but room was cold. Took a while to heat up! Manager apologised in the morning but stay was very uncomforatble. Location ideal, but hotel and hospitality needs a lot of work

Good 6.0
Location
Long delay @ check in as no parking space despite phoning half hour before arrival & being told there was also one of twin rooms booked was changed to a double which didn't suit as four individuals in party. No cold water in shower instead scalding hot hence warning sticker??....complained to Operations Mgr next morning who didn't seem too bothered. Reception staff did their best admitting a mistake had been made & offered concessionary upgrade on breakfast which was good. We were not asked to pay for parking. Instead paid same price for NCP day rate round the corner. Hotel prides itself on location opposite Motorpoint Arena & easy walking distance to shops, University, Cardiff Bay. If you're after convenience is clean & ideal but if you prefer creature comforts such as Air Conditioning, terrace, restaurant, spa & pool facilities best look nearby for few pounds more.
