We arrived at 9.30pm after driving from Bari airport, to be told by a rather cheerless female reception person (owner/manager?) that the restaurant closed at 9.15 and there was no food, not even a snack, available. We flopped exhausted after a long day's travel and went to bed hungry!
We were alone in breakfast next morning, a large tour party having left early. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive and welcome, except that (in common, we were to find, with most "hot food" in our hotels) the bacon, sausages & scrambled eggs were at best luke-warm.
On departure after three nights I told the same female person at reception that my dinner the previous evening had been very poor, with luke-warm vegetables and an over-cooked dry fish, badly mutilated in the filleting process. And a rather spooky, cadaverous-looking waiter who had spent much of the meal keeping watch on our progress finally disappeared and we were never offered dessert or coffee. And, still at only c.9pm, the bar was in darkness and unattended - so no coffee or drinks there either. For these failings and disappointments we were granted a ten Euros reduction!
This is not a bad hotel. We were comfortably accommodated in a clean room, but - with the exception of friendly and attentive service from the barman - we always had the impression that it was geared up to catering for large parties and, really, they could have done without us! Such a shame, as the hotel is well-located and potentially has much to offer.
