Have stayed before and like the hotel - rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the location is excellent. All was slightly marred by the front desk clerk - when I showed up with small children and asked if the room could be ready slightly early, he said “if you pay $50, we can send Housekeeping early. Otherwise, you will have to wait until 4:00.” That’s not a good way to greet a customer, IMHO.

The location is not the greatest. Baltimore in general is just disgusting. Parking is 26$ for self parking in an underground garage unless you want to pay over $40 for valet parking. The design of the building is nice. The bathrooms were nice but the doors were weird and dingy. The carpets in the hallways and throughout the place were dirty. The service and friendliness of the staff were great. Beds were semi comfortable. The rooms had a weird smell.

No sleep in the bunk bed room
We were so excited to meet my sister for a family event and have a hotel room that everyone could have a bed since we found and booked the room with adjoining bunk beds. The mattresses were pitted in the middle, the room was dim and not lit well and after many hours of no sleep, I had to remove both of my kids from their bunk beds because every time the moved or turned the beds made an awful squeaking sound. It kept everyone awak the entire night. Even though it was a deal, the room rate was expansive. We were so disappointed with our one night stay and the money we paid for a less than comfortable room. I hope kimpton puts some money into this properties room amenities. It desperately needs updating!

Great Staff
The good: Everyone that works here. All of our interactions where impressive, even when our room service order was messed up. I also loved the size of our room (King 1 bed suite) and the bathtub. The actual building is stunning. I loved the look and feel; it’s a special place. The mediocre: there was some obvious wear in the room, like a rug that wasn’t cut around the doorstop. The bad: if you plan to take a baby and use a pack and play please bring your own sheet! The one they provided was just a full sheet wrapped around the mattress and seemed like a definite suffocation hazard. I was very glad we had one with us. Also one side of our bed was sagging so much I thought it might collapse. The neighborhood is okay—if you walk in three directions it’s fine but walk down the wrong street and it gets hairy fast. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here! Just know going in that it’s not perfect and set your expectations accordingly.

Really cool re-purposed historical building
Loved the re-purposed B&O Railroad building! But careful, you have to pay for everything. Valet parking overnight? $43. Breakfast? $Additional. Wi-fi? Pay, unless you are a member of IHG Hotels. Still, a real high-quality stay. My only problem was that we were passing through Baltimore on family vacation with 3 bicycles atop the car. Their garage cannot handle them, and they initially said they didn't have a secure storage room to hold them overnight. But with a nice tip to a very friendly bellhop, a storage room for the bikes was "found."
