2/10 Poor

Avoid this Hotel
Awful experience. I never complain however I would avoid this hotel. Our room was at the very top in the attic up 6 flights of stairs, we weren’t aware of this at the time of booking. No hot water on the first night, shower tiny and looks like from the 1970’s, no plug next to bed, dirty bed throws, holes in the grimy net curtain, tired decor. Breakfast basic and twice we couldn’t get a seat even though we were in the time slot. We ran out of toilet paper and I asked if someone would send one up and was told I would have to go down for it, I said no as we were all in our night wear and someone did eventually bring some up. We ordered a taxi to pick us up to go to the train station. We were late as our train was stuck due to signals . I was met with a very angry receptionist and when I explained about the train he shouted at me to explain that to the driver. Said it was terrible of us. We were 15 minutes late and I felt awful but his shouting at me was very upsetting. This is the first time I have left a negative review however I would avoid this hotel.

Buyer Beware
WhenI arrived the lobby had a bad vibe: dingy, television on, the smell of fried food. I signed the form at the front desk, left my suitcase at the desk and went downstairs to look at the room. It was a corner room, below ground, with one window, which faced a concrete wall and a metal cabinet of some sort. In other words, a dungeon. I went back upstairs and it said I was sorry I could not stay; I had such a feeling of discomfort and unease, and stepped outside to make a phone call. The clerk came outside and said there was another room upstairs, but it was the same number of steep stairs, 18, up a narrow staircase. The photos posted online do not accurately reflect what the room actually look like: bait and switch. That strong smell of fried food pervaded the hotel although the dining area was closed. I regret signing the form at the desk before looking at the room, although I understood that no refunds were honored. I wish I had taken photos to post with my comments but I wanted to leave as quickly as possible. All I can say is the Belvedere hotel website misrepresents itself: false advertising.

8/10 Very good

We recently stayed as a family and we found the hotel to be very nice. The staff were lovely and friendly especially the breakfast staff. Breakfast was lovely, rooms were clean and comfy and a good size but there was 1 thing that let it down and that was no safety features on the windows. We were on the top floor and as it was very hot we opened the window and was surprised to see no child locks or safety bars fitted like we have had at previous hotels,it was a long steep drop to the pavement below and our daughters bed was next to the window and we didnt sleep due to worry and when we was in the room we didnt feel safe enough to have the window open. We knew the hotel was fully booked so we knew it wasnt worth asking to be moved to a lower level. It is a shame as that is our only reason why we cannot return to this hotel. The area was perfect and like ive said the staff were so lovely, just a shame about the wondows.

The staff is friendly, they do a great breakfast in the morning. The place is super accessible to Paddington station. There are a lot of stairs if you are on one of the higher floors. It wasn't a problem for us but just in case it is good to know.

Food for thought
Breakfast was a daily highlight included with stay. Have a traditional English breakfast or have it your way, service and food were excellent. The room was as expected but that bathroom was quite cramp, but at least you had your own private bath. The Wi-Fi was impeccable.
