Accessibility is key
As a frugal traveler, I have to admit that I always look at accommodations with affordable rates first and see what they have to offer. I figured Vienna would be a little too expensive if I decided to stay around the palatial landmarks within city's Ringstrasse. So, I randomly chose Hotel Marc Aurel (located in the area called Schwedenplatz) without any huge expectations. In the end, I was very lucky to find this place, which is physically situated near the Hard Rock Cafe. First and foremost, there is an easy and affordable way to travel by bus from the airport and back (via Vienna Airport Lines or VAL), which drops off and picks up passengers to and from the airport every 30 minutes. Second, the yellow tram intended for sightseeing that goes around the Ringstrasse starts at Schwedenplatz. Plus, trams 1 and 2 that have stops in the major landmarks within the ring, also have stops here. Even the hop on and hop off buses do stop at Schwedenplatz. The accommodations are not topnotch, but I do admit that I slept comfortably during my 3-day stay. The staff members were very friendly and very helpful. But, the breakfast spread was excellent. I truly enjoyed the variety as well as the inclusion of mediterranean options. This hotel is well worth the price. One aspect that you will never regret is its unequivocal accessibility to the main sights. St Stephen's Church is just a 15-minute walk. So there you have it...accessibility by foot, by tram, and by bus. You cannot beat that!

Nice Hotel near the centre of the historic city
This is a very good hotel near the old centre of Vienna, The rooms and facilities are simple, clean and were exactly what we wanted for our short visit. We wanted a room that had air conditioning and was comfortable with decent bathroom facilities. This hotel had all that we required. The rooms are not very large but allow you enough space to move around them and, likewise the bathroom and shower were clean and functional. After all, we didn't come to Vienna to stay in the hotel but wanted to be out during the day and return to somewhere that was not too noisy and where we could relax and sleep, ready for the next day. The staff were very friendly and on the first day when our air conditioning unit started leaking, they dealt with it immediately. They couldn't fix it right easily so they moved us to a slightly bigger room which suited our needs very well. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast and there was enough choice, both hot and cold, to keep us happy and ready to face the day.

Amazing place feels like home
My family of four enjoyed this hotel very much. The location was just perfect-5-10 min walking to all main attractions and 3 min walking to the metro (which can bring you to the Schonbrunn Palace just in 15 min). Our room was super clean, hotel was recently remodeled and has a perfect modern shower and safe in each room. All beddings, matrasess and pillows super comfy and great quality. The staff are nice, and friendly. The breakfast included different cereals, nuts, berries, cheeses and sausages. Please don't skip the desert - fresh backed bread with coffee or capuchino will help you to start day with a smile. I have only suggestion, if you are traveling with little kids, ask for the room with windows to the back yard ( we had windows to the street and was noisy until 3-4 am). Overall, very nice and cute hotel in the heart of Vienna

Good hotel in city centre
Thought this was an excellent hotel for a short city break. Very comfortable and conveniently situated for exploring the Innere Stad. Airport bus stop is a couple of minutes walk away as is the underground station at Schweden Platz. Did not eat in the hotel as we always prefer to go out. Would recommend The Cafe Korb which is fairly near the hotel both for breakfast and dinner - don't be put off by the plastic top tables! Would recommend Vienna for a weekend break. Most of the main sights were within walking distance of the hotel - although you would need to use the underground to visit the Schonbrunn Palace, which I would recommend visiting. We went to a concert in the University which was very good. Tickets can be bought from ticket sellers outside St Stephan's cathedral. There is quite a choice of concerts on offer in different venues and there are a number of people in different costumes selling tickets. The prices are all very similar but would recommend checking exactly what is on offer for each concert before deciding.

Great hotel for a city break
Great hotel with very comfortable beds in rooms with all you need. However, some little extras to feel spoilt would make it perfect! The hotel is close to underground line and bus stops including the airport line and ‘hop on hop off’ tour. Close by is an array of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Expensive restaurants on the same street as the hotel or go 5-10 minute walk and you will find more reasonably priced options. Loved the proximity to the sights we wanted to see. The hotel staff were great at providing advice on places to go. Breakfast is worth a mention here too as it was plentiful and set you up for the day. Perfect for our city break... thanks!
