Hotel close to many amenities
We arrived at the hotel early evening and check-in was quick and easy. We were informed of breakfast times and other information regarding the hotel and its facilities by a friendly receptionist. Our room was clean and fit for purpose, to use as our base while sight seeing in Paris. We had breakfast the first morning of our stay, there was a good choice of breakfast foods e.g. eggs, cold meats/cheese, cereals, toast, croissants, rolls etc. coffee, orange juice and tea (this was not something I would request a refill of, as they tend to serve the tea with hot milk which had to be asked for), this isn't a complaint just an observation. The hotel was close to the metro station and within walking distance of Notre Dame and the Louvre. The array of Café/Bars/Bistros/Restaurants in the surrounding areas catered for every cuisine and pocket. Perhaps the only thing we had a bit of a problem was the heat in the room, we could not regulate the radiator so it was either "on, full blast" or "off, stone cold". Our check-out was just as it was on arrival, quick and easy. All in all the few days stay at the Castex Hotel were very good and we had a great time in Paris!

Fair 4.0
modest hotel, reasonably good location.
Hotel is modest, very small cramped rooms that don't match up to the photos online. Unable to unpack for our 5 night stay since inadequate storage. Had to trip over suitcases to get to single wardrobe so not really worth unpacking - felt like we were camping/living out of suitcases for 6 days. Reasonably clean but old hotel so in need of remodelling and feels grimy. Beds not super comfortable but sheets were clean. Daily supply of coffee + tea sachets were not replenished so had to buy my own - most frustrating when hotel stay in Paris is not cheap and a pain to have to go and purchase my own supplies. Requested more from reception staff but this did not happen. Pleasant enough reception staff to talk with they mostly have good command of English language if your French language skills are not strong.

Very nice hotel in a great location
I travelled with a girlfriend, and we both are Paris experienced, I had lived there for 4 years. We needed a nice comfortable hotel, not too expensive, in the Marais area - and we both have high standards when it comes to hotels. With the Castex Hotel we found a little gem - best value for the money. The room was small as expected, but very comfortable beds, a mini bar, TV, enough room to store clothes and the suitcases and a nice modern, clean bathroom with a big shower. I had stayed in various hotels in the Marais area, but I have to say so far this was the best value for money. It was very quiet as well, we had a good nights sleep. From now on we will stay there more often. Others: I can't rate the breakfast as we went out. Staff: Very friendly and helpful. All in all the perfect weekend.

Exceptional 10.0
Hotel Castex was lovely and perfect for our 3-person family getaway. We stayed in the triple (garden apartment) which was spacious, quiet, comfortable and quaint. The breakfast area also has a lot of character and it was a lovely breakfast of typical choices. The key benefit of Hotel Castex is its location - very close to the Bastille metro (3 main metro lines), walkable to the Ile de la Cite and also just by the Marais district with its lovely walking district, cafes and boutiques. The people at Hotel Castex were friendly and helpful. My only caution is that for my final night there (after my husband and daughter had left), I moved to a different room that was a single on the 5th floor. While it was comfortable and clean, it was tiny! So...I would highly recommend the hotel if one of the garden apartments fit your needs and is available, but if you are placed in a tiny single, be aware that it is truly small.

Liked the hotel, shuttle was stressful
We loved the hotel and location. They do push the airport shuttle and that was not a good experience. We told them the time we wanted to be at the airport. They insisted on knowing what time our flight left. Then they said we would need to take a later time leaving for that flight. The shuttle arrived at the hotel 25 minutes late, then went to three other hotels then the airport. We went directly to security and then our gate. We had time for a bathroom stop but were called for boarding five minutes after we reached the gate. We made it but it was frustrating and stressful. We had planned to eat at the airport and saved Euros for that purpose. Now they are just souvenirs.
