Fabulous 8.6 From 321 reviews

Very good 8.0
Perfectly adequate for the price. The room was very small, but that’s to be expected. The only real complaint I have, and it’s not a big one, is that there isn’t enough protection from shower spray in the bathroom. When you take a shower, expect a whole bathroom to get wet. Still, it was clean and quiet.

Nice Hotel, Good Location
First impressions of the hotel were good. Once you step inside from the street, the hotel looks clean, smart and welcoming. Check in process was smooth, and we were able to leave our bags with reception until our room was available, allowing us to make the most of our time in Paris. The room was compact, but had all the space needed for a weekend stay. A mirror in the room would have helped, but the one in the bathroom sufficed. The bed was comfortable, additional pillows were available, and the minibar was stocked well. The one negative from the room was that the handle for the shower head was loose, so we had to physically hold the shower while washing. Nothing that cannot be resolved with tightening screws. Continental breakfast was standard, with bread, eggs, deli meats and cheeses served. The dining area can be busy and feels too small when all tables are occupied. The area was lively of an evening, and had ample places to eat and drink within a few minutes. There is a bar next door, and patrons spill out into the street- this made for noise in our room, which overlooked the street. Transport connections were good, with Bastille, Ledru-Rollin and Gare de Lyon all within 5 minutes’ walk.

Second time, there won't be a third
Second time staying here and I definitely wouldn't rate it as fabulous. The room is small which is fine and there is a kettle provided for hot drinks but it's very hot (even in October) and too noisy to keep the window open. What really put me off was the night porter and his personal remarks plus the lack of housekeeping/maintenance. Two of the lamps in the tiny room had blown out light bulbs which you'd think Housekeeping would check on. When I called down to tell the front desk, he told me to come down and he'd give me a bulb to change it myself. After a long day walking around Paris I wasnt up for doing THEIR job. I stayed one night at another hotel closer to the Gare and I'll be returning there not here next year.

Good hotel, close to Gare de Lyon station
We recently stayed at the hotel for one night so that we were close to the Gare de Lyon station. The hotel was good, and the gentleman on reception who checked us in was friendly. The rooms were nice and clean, and comfortable, and the air-conditioning was appreciated with the warm weather we had. There were little extras in the room - tea and coffee, and toiletries in the bathroom which was nice. The only downside we found was that we were asked to leave the room key at the desk when we went out (presumably so we didn't lose it) and when we arrived back to the hotel later on and asked for the key, the guy at reception just handed it over without checking who we were first, which didn't feel very safe at all. Overall I would say the hotel is comfortable and the staff friendly, and it is good if you want to be close by to Gare de Lyon station.

Wouldn't Recommend
The receptionist "upgraded" me to a ground floor room, probably because she tried to give it to someone else and they refused it because of the awful smell coming from the shower drain. It was disgusting. I kneeled on the ground to pick something up and there was dirt all over my legs. The tile floors hide a lot of dirt but they were filthy. I said something to the receptionist but she said that the hotel was fully booked and she could mention the smell and the floors to the housekeeping but since I was only there for one night and leaving early the next day there was nothing I could do. She tried to help by dousing my room with room spray but that didn't help. Suffice it to say, I did not sleep well and all I wanted was a good night sleep. I was happy to leave for my flight the next morning. I will never stay here again when I visit Paris.
