Exceptional 10.0
Stayed here for three nights with family. The hotel is within easy walking distance of a Metro station (Poissonaire) and also to restaurants, coffee shops, tourist attractions. The staff was very, very friendly and accommodating, especially Valentin....he even helped us with our luggage as we were leaving. Our room wasn't very big, but definitely served it's purpose. We had a triple on the 6th floor...there's an elevator in this hotel, which is very helpful when you have luggage to haul or if you are traveling with elderly people. We could see Sacre Coeur from our room, nice! The room was cleaned daily and ample amounts of shampoos/toilet paper/towels were left every day. The breakfast was nice, the breakfast area is quaint, tho quite small. The buffet had fresh baguettes, jams, cereals, butter, cheeses, croissants, juices, fresh fruit salad, it wastasty However, as we arrived for breakfast at 9:15am (breakfast is until 10am) on Sunday, there was no more cheese, no more fresh fruit, no more baguettes. Valentin, who was at the reception, ran around the corner and get two more baguettes. H.owever, quite a few guests hadn't eaten yet, so the two baguettes vanished within like two minutes. When asked to replenish the cheese/bread/etc., the two girls who worked the breakfast area simply said "no more". We found this unacceptable...Management needs to make sure there is enough food until 10am...after all, people pay 10 Euros for breakfast! Other than that, we loved this place!!!

Good Hotel Close To Gare du Nord
This hotel was a nice surprise. Only about a five minute walk from the station, friendly staff, close to amenities, restaurants, bars etc. Good transport links to get around Paris. A clean air conditioned room, and as the lift was out of order during my stay, I was offered complimentary breakfast which was a lovely touch. The only negative was the fact that a deposit equivalent to one night's stay was put on my card even though there was no mention of this when booking the room. I contacted Expedia to ask why and they contacted the hotel who said they always do this. I told them if this is the case it should be clearly stated. Expedia said they would get back to me in 48 hours which they did not. Also the day before checking out I had been told the money on hold as a deposit could be used towards payment however on checkout I was told by another member of staff that it wasn't allowed so I then had to go and take out extra money from a ATM across the road. The deposit was placed back in my account before I left hotel which was fine.

Walking distance to Gare du Nord and Metro Line 7
Just Ok if u have to spent 1 or 2 nights. When I arrive early around 12 PM, I was asked to pay 30 Euro (as the check-in time was 2PM) although the lady says your room is ready. Well some hotels have strict policies than others. Anyways I left my luggage at the reception and went for sightseeing. In the afternoon when I checked-in around 4-5 PM I have informed the staff that A/C was not working and they told me they can inform the technician and it can be fixed the next day. I was staying for just one night (with my wife and a 2 yrs old kid) and I have spent without A/C. In the morning I have requested for Shuttle bus from Hotel to Airport which charge 18Euro/Person and I was surprise they even charge 18Euro for my less than 2 yrs old kid which should be exempted from any charges (even airplanes are not charging him). Recommending to those who are single or small family with short stay and spent most of the time outside sightseeing. couple of indian restaurants in walking distance.

Excellent staff!
The staff at Art Hotel Lafayette are the best thing about this hotel. They were friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. The location suited us as it was close to public transportation and not as noisy as hotels around Gare Du Nord tend to be. The reception area is small but attractive. However, the room was rather small and dingy. We had 2 singles but the room was so small they couldn't be separated. The wardrobe was scratched up, noisy and clearly needed an upgrade. Toiletries were minimal but they did provide 2 bottles of water free of charge which we appreciated. WiFi did work well and consistently. There was a charge of 12 euros for breakfast which we found to be excessive. Overall we felt the hotel was overpriced but recognised that it is probably in line with other Parisian hotels. Overall, it was a good choice for a couple of nights stay.

Poor 2.0
On arrival the lift was out of order so we had to take the stairs to the 5th floor with our baggage. Not a huge issues, on arriving at our room we open the electronic door lock to be greeted by a lady already in the room a bit shocked. We were given a room which was already occupied. Back down the stairs to be given the now correct room also on the 5th floor. This shook up my wife a little and wasn't too happy worrying about people easily being able to access the room. The room was very small but comfortable enough. Breakfast was limited but adequate for a free breakfast. But unfortunately it turns out it was only free on the first morning? As at checkout we had been charged 10 euros each for a coffee and some toast for the second mornings breakfast. We were not told by anyone it was chargeable as if we known we would have gone to the cafe next door where we could have got much better quality and selection for the price. The only good thing about this hotel was the location, which even they can't mess up.
