Exceptional 10.0
Wonderful Stay
This hotel is a gem. Every member of the staff was wonderful. The woman at the front desk was so helpful when we arrived. We got to the hotel around 9:30, coming straight from an early train ride. Although check in starts officially at 2, she had us store our luggage AND invited us to eat breakfast, even though it was not included on the day of check in. We were also able to check in several hours early. She additionally presented us a map and gave us directions and recommendations on what to see and where to go. We were unsure on what all to do in Florence, and she solved that problem completely! The room was large even though we booked the cheapest option, being on a budget. The bathroom was rather small, but both were very clean. On our first night, we brought a bottle of wine to the room, and when the staff cleaned the room the next morning, they apparently noticed and left us wine glasses! Incredible customer service. The woman who works during breakfast has more energy than anyone I’ve ever met and was so friendly and sweet. You’ll have a cappuccino in your hand before you can blink. Overall, this hotel is a great value in an awesome location, made even better by superior staff.

Exceptional 10.0
The perfect budget hotel for exploring Florence!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Colombia during a short break to Florence with my wife, and we were very impressed. The hotel is conveniently situated just a few minutes walk from all of central Florence's main sights such as the Duomo, and the Uffizi and Accademia galleries. It is also within easy walking distance of the Santa Maria Novella train station if you are arriving by train, as we did. Tucked away off the main street, and accessed by stairs or the cosy but characterful lift, we found the hotel and a very warm welcome awaiting us. All the staff were friendly, polite and efficient, with a special mention going to the lady who served breakfast every day who never failed to put a smile on our faces each morning! Breakfast itself was exceptional and included in our room rate, with a great selection of pastries being a particular attraction. How nice also to discover that cappuccinos, mochas and speciality teas were on offer as well as the usual hot drink offerings. A great touch which sets this hotel apart from other similarly priced accomodation. Our room was compact, but spotlessly clean and with a comfortable bed and fresh linen and towels. No in-room tea or coffee facilities were available, but there is a daily afternoon tea provided in the common areas where more fresh cakes and pastries make an appearance! For a so-called budget hotel, the Colomba was brilliant and so centrally situated. We would heartily recommend it!

Exceptional 10.0
The staff was very friendly and offered multiple places to see and eat (including the best gelato place). : ) The hotel is extremely close to the Duomo (less than a five minute walk). The room itself was nice and bigger than what we were expecting. The only thing that bothered my fiancé and I was that it was two beds made into one. But after staying at other hotels since then, that seems to be the norm for Italian hotels. We really appreciated and liked that our bathroom was modern, especially the rain showerhead. The free breakfast every morning was definitely a huge plus! They had scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, juices, fruit, toast, deli meats, cheese, yogurt with different granolas to put with it, and it had a variety of pastries. They had cappuccino and espresso made to order. We absolutely loved this place out of all the hotels we stayed in in Italy!! We will definitely be coming back!

Good 6.0
Clean hotel but not the quietest
The staff were really friendly. The room was large and clean, however, the bed was not the most comfortable. The breakfast was okay, though I am a fussy about the cereal, bread and butter that I like and unfortunately what was offered didn't really work for me. However, for most people, this breakfast would be more than enough. The lift is so small that only one person with luggage can fit in there and you must go up the lift to get to the hotel. My biggest complaint for this hotel is it is very loud. My room was close to the dining area and I could hear staff cleaning right through to 10pm and from as early as 6am setting up breakfast. Breakfast started at 6:30 and I was no longer able to sleep past then as other guests were (not intentionally) loud during their breakfast.

Very good 8.0
Small hotel close to everything
I recently stayed in a triple room at this hotel. The location is excellent within walking distance of all major attractions in Florence- 2 blocks from the Duomo, 4 blocks from the Accademie with Michelangelo's David, 15 minutes from Santa Maria Novella train station. The hotel staff was wonderful. The people at the front desk were very helpful with directions and recommendations for shopping and restaurants. They steered us away from tourist traps. The breakfast was top notch and more than I expected. There was very good coffee that you could dispense from coffee urns but you could also ask them to make you an espresso or cappuccino. There was a spread of meats and cheese, granola and two kinds of yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries. The room itself was a bit small as was the bathroom but the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. It met our needs especially since we spent the days out exploring and would come back late completely exhausted. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Florence.
