Self Contained, If All You Want To See Is A Resort
Waikaloa is 25 miles from Kailua Kona. Of the stretch of resort style villages on this coast away from Kona, its the nearest by a few miles. Rooms are great, top notch quality. Facilities are spaced out extraordinarily, making it a good option for those who like to go on vacation and only experience the resorts restaurants, shops and pools, and not actually see anything of the surrounds. Then again, if you're going to do that, why go all the way to the Big Island to do so?! What irks me though is the additional US$25 per night per room compulsory "Resort Fee" to "enjoy" the resort facilities provided, payable at Reception. Given its compulsory, just add it to the room fee?! Or don't make it compulsory - we were not there just to see the resort - we were there to snorkel elsewhere and travel around and see the Big Island. Hence our compulsory US$25 additional fee was a complete rort. We didn't use any of the resort facilities as such. Why pay extra to use a pool?! Doesn't make any sense at all.

There were small insects in one bedroom that swarmed a glass of orange juice. I have no idea where the bugs came from because we didn't leave the balcony door open. I assume they were already in the room.

Titus Stay at Kings' Land Hilton
Our stay at Kings' Land by Hilton was pretty good for the most part. What I didn't care about was we had asked for all of our family members to be closer together (we had five families stay with you) but they had us pretty spread out from building 10 to building 25. This was a big trip for our family and it would have been nicer to put all of us within a couple of buildings close together not so spread out. Also we asked for more umbrellas at our pool and it NEVER happened and the towels seemed to be out all the time. The cleaning was excellent kudos to the cleaning crew, great job. And the surrounding grounds were beautiful. The Luau and the swim with the dolphins was fun but I felt ripped off that you had to do the tour in order to get these at a reasonable price.

Paradise indeed
Amazing staff and beautiful accommodations. A bit confusing to figure out how to catch the shuttle and where the Buffett was but, staff and suite were absolutely to die for! Will definitely stay there again.

Fair 4.0
Very overpriced with OK service. :-(
When we arrived at the hotel the hotel staff told me that our booking was for one night. I had the confirmation from Hotel.com with me, that clearly stated 1 room for 2 nights. After about 20 minutes the clerk was able to add another night for us, but on a sperate reservation. This meant that she had to charge my credit card for two seperate $250 security deposits, instead of just one charge. She stated the the charge is per reservation and since she had to add a night due to their error, my card would be charged twice for the security deposit. I was not happy! The next morning we went to get our 2 for 1 breakfast buffet that was includec included in our reservation. The lady at the breakfast counter told us that we needed to go see the concierge to get our voucher. When we went to see the concierge she tried to sell us a vacation club membership, even though we stated we were not interested and just wanted ohr breakfast voucher. We spent the day by the pool, which was very pretty. Unfortuantely, the resort decided to close the water slides down for the afternoon because they could not spare an employee to man the top of the slide. So very disappointing, because we spent a lot of money to stay at the resort and really wanted to utilize the slides. The grounds are very pretty and well taken care of. Our room was very nice with the exception of the bed, which was rock hard. The staff was OK. Not eager to be super helpful. No poolside beverage or food service.

Comfortable suite, great facilities, and excellent customer service. I would highly recommend, and am now considering becoming a Hilton Grand Vacations member.

Excessive Deposit
What I did not appreciate is being charged a $250 deposit for a stay that was not even 24 hours. I paid in full in advance and expected the resort charge that was listed, but not a $250 deposit I was not prepared for or that was not disclosed in the listing.
