Clayton Hotel Leopardstown, Dublin, Ireland
3* hotel at 5* prices
The hotel was OK but not worth anywhere close to the $342 we were charged for a basic room with no breakfast. The room was larger than expected with a comfy couch and good sized TV. The decor looked a bit old and basic and the art was a little weird, but we were only there for 1 night so we didn't care too much. The bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower. However, our room did not have all of the advertised amenities (minibar, ac). The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, but after flying for 20 hours we were too tired to make a fuss. The room itself was reasonably clean but the hallway looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. We paid $43 for breakfast the next morning, which was another disappointment. Shrivelled potatoes, lumpy custard masquerading as scrambled eggs, empty bread baskets. Staff seemed too stressed to care. We come to Dublin 2-3 times per year so we know what standard to expect at each price range. This hotel is not good value for money and I wouldn't return unless they significantly dropped their rates.

Air circulation wasn't that great, felt so hot, but the staff was great, Especially the guy from Italia. Brother from another mother.

hotel was okay
okay hotel. good bed but had top switch rooms twice as one room was too noisy and the other one had a horrible smell of old tobacco. Room service menu is poor with few good options. There was a nice gentleman there though name Nikolea who did help me in moving rooms.

Consistently Suprising
I/we have always regarded Leopardstown highly and it has continued to improve its level of service and cosied-up the downstairs area. One suggestion I would make, not just to this hotel but to almost all hotels we have ever stayed in. Duvets feel as if they are Winter weight all the year round. Could they offer us older couples the alternative, on request, of a top sheet and blanket? If a survey were done on this specifically, I am sure we are not alone in this. Its quite a major consideration for us. Thanks to Colin for accepting a change in our dates in the circumstance we were in, yet again, over and above the call of duty.
