Temperature control meant turning of the radiator
Staff very nice and helpful. Facilities were great . Only negative was there was no air conditioning. Rooms were stifling and hot so couldn’t sleep

What air conditioning?
Great weather all weekend but 25 degrees in a supposed 4 star hotel with no air conditioning leaves you uncomfortable. All lockers and showers in pool area broken. Facilities in general dated and in need of maintenance. Two miserable place fillets full of bones with two scoops of potato and a little bowl of raw vegetables that were inedible for dinner in the bar with no air conditioning as the restaurant only opens Saturdays.

Nice with great staff.
The hotel staff were very good. One in particular who was a slightly older gentleman with white hair. He was so helpful in arranging things for me and rectifying things when they went wrong. I had a room service call at 9am and asked the staff to come back later and they didn't so I had no new tea or coffee and he attended to the error and made some tea, he was brilliant. He also arranged my taxi for the morning with no fuss - he is a real credit to your team. The hotel itself is about 20 mins walking distance from the town and I liked this as I could walk in. If you don't like walking then taxis are easy enough to get. My only small gripe is that this is very much a local amenity and not just a hotel with passing visitors. The bar is not quiet and relaxing it is chock-a-block with locals who are not quiet and make lots of noise into the early hours. If you don't mind this, then its fine but I tend to like quieter stays. The pool and gym are the same so I didn't use them because they were very busy. It is not a criticism per se as the hotel has to make its money and its a good business model but for me I just like a quitter more bespoke experience and I felt it was too commercial and corporate for me. The gold leaf headboards are a nice touch (you dont see that too often)! I stayed at the hotel as I was visiting the festival and I was surprised how little support or advertising there was for the festival in the hotel itself (not even a brochure)..

Family weekend
Overall we had nice time in Talbot Hotel. Our 3 years old daughter enjoyed swimming pool and she had lots of fun at the Dome Playing Center. Food at the restaurant was ok but we found more tasty food at the town. Only one thing I didn't like it that parents few room near us left kids at the room in their own and one of the child 10 o'clock was terible running and crying calling mum. Is of course not the hotel fault but parents. We all couldn't sleep for long. Was thinking to go myself checked. And my child was keep aking why child crying and where is her mum.

Nice rooms but not a great stay
To start with the positives: The room was nicely decorated and fairly comfortable. The negatives: There was no air conditioning and it was very warm during my stay, which made it slightly uncomfortable. The main drawback was been given a room on the first floor right above the bar. The first night of my stay there was live music blasting until after 11pm. As a business traveller this was just not acceptable. Once I complained at reception I was told that the hotel was full so I could not change rooms. I personally don’t think those rooms should be used while live entertainment is on. Following this, well into the night there were people singing and chanting, what sounded like it was outside my room. I would have expected the staff to move them on. Breakfast was average and WiFi was not great. The gym was absolutely terrible and needed some serious updating. Half of the machines didn’t work properly and there were no two weights the same. Overall, it was OK, but a lot of the drawbacks means I would not recommend it to others unless these things were resolved.
