Very good
Dukes is in a great location and is so cute and so British. We arrived a bit early for check in, it was raining outside, and we didn't want to carry our luggage and bags around. We were told we could join tea in the drawing room, which had started. When we went in there, we were told it was full and were ushered to the restaurant and charged about 20 pounds for tea, coffee, and water while we waited about an hour. Not the best first impression. Staff were friendly and pretty helpful. I loved the turn down service at night, cookies in the room, and the hot towel bar and robes. Some of the carpet was in need of repair and cleaning. The fresh flowers in the hotel were a nice touch. Breakfast was good at the hotel, but wouldn't recommend dinner. About three or four different people would wait on you while you were there, but getting the check always seemed a bit difficult. Their famous bar was obviously quite popular, but was expensive and people dressed up for that more than anything else we noticed in the hotel- wish we had known that! Doormen greeted you at arrival, which was a nice touch. I loved the independent, boutique hotel. The bathrooms could better lighting, a better mirror (hard to see). The bed and linens were very comfortable. There were lots of resources in the room to help you discover the city. The hotel was in a pretty quiet location for being in the city. I would stay here again. I loved their dachshund "mascot".

Exceptional
Wonderful stay at Dukes Hotel London!!!
I recently stayed at Dukes Hotel London with my 12 year old daughter. We had booked a one bedroom suite and were very pleased to be given an upgrade to the Duke of Clarence suite on the top floor. From the minute we arrived at Dukes Hotel until the minute we checked out, we were very impressed by all of the staff who were so professional, friendly and pleased to help at all times. The hotels plush traditional boutique charm was everything you would expect from an excellent 5* hotel. We were greeted by Michael who made us feel very welcome, checking us in early and personally showing us around the suite and hotel. The suite was cleaned and tidied every day to perfection and returning to the turndown service in the evening just made things so special. Breakfast was included in our stay which was served in the beautiful GBR restaurant and did not disappoint. The hotel is situated in the perfect area for all commuting or sightseeing, we were able to easily walk to the Green Park tube station and many of the best attractions were within walking distance. I can only say great things about Dukes Hotel, I want to thank Dukes and all of their staff especially Michael for providing my daughter and I a very special stay. We would definitely love to return when visiting London again.

Come for drinks but stay some place else
Dukes is a London tradition. I feel it's mostly going on old reputation at this point. The hotel rooms are small, old and looking warn out. The staff for the most part try to be helpful but pretty meh in their execution. Alessandro at the bar is an absolute rock star and is really one of the only reasons this hotel functions at all. I booked a massage during my stay and the massage therapist was wonderful, thank you Anna! There are plenty of other 5 star hotels in London, I would stay some place else but do go to Dukes for a craft cocktail made by Alessando, the man is a legend!

Nice location
The hotel was in a great location close to good restaurants and parks. Our initial room did not have air conditioning or the bed size I requested. The lady at the front told me that they didn't have king beds that their king beds were doubles. The manager was very helpful and told me that there was nothing he could do that night because the hotel was sold out but the next day he moved us into a room with working air conditioning and a king bed. The front desk had also told me there were no rooms with working air but this was not the case because two other customers told me in the elevator that their air conditioning was working. The check in person the morning when I i checked in had confirmed that they were putting me in a king bed with air conditioning. So not sure how we ended up in our initial room. Our second room was great and the hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. With the exception of the Wifi not working consistently we had a great stay. The hotel manager also hand wrote me a personal apology which I appreciated.

Well located hotel: basics good, details weak
Dukes is a pleasantly furnished, very clean and quiet hotel, well situated--a 5-minute walk from the Green Park Underground station, a cluster of bus routes and plentiful taxis. The staff, mostly European, are polite and welcoming. We'd stayed a couple times before and liked it enough to return. But on this visit, the cozy traditional look--the wood-paneled elevator with its cushioned seat, but with two heavy metal gates to pull aside, the scant drawer space that imposed a living-out-of-suitcase vibe--had lost some of its charm. And as a pile of small errors piled up, we began to wonder if the hotel had lost its focus: the inability to find our reservation at first; the failure to swap out feather bedding as requested when booking, and again in a telephone call hours before arrival, despite assurances at check in that it had been done; the lack of milk for coffee in the mini-bar two days running, contrary to a printed card promising same; the nightly weather forecast (a nice touch) twice printed with a January date--in February...and a few more. A pity.
