Small hotel with the elegance of the busier ones.
Great experience and services. Comfortable room. Lovely bath and separate shower. Comfy bed if you like soft mattress (I don't so did find it hard to sleep well the first nights). The air duct was quite noisy during the night as well. Very pleasant staffs, delicious breakfast although a bit over my personal budget, I still enjoyed the calmness and polite service I got. Good quality coffee at L'orangierie Lounge. Next time I want to try the High Tea service as well. There are computers and printers free to use in the beautiful library. I asked for herbal tea to be brought to my room and at the end of my day, tea bags of chamomille and mint were left near the keurig coffee machine as requested. Since my flight was only leaving later in the afternoon and without any additional fees, I was offered to leave my luggage all day after check out. When I came back, I was offered to rest in the lounge and use the gym facilities to refresh myself. By far one of the best service I have ever had! I felt like I was very well taken care of, I felt safe despite the location in the busy downtown Vancouver. I was staying in Vancouver for a Dental Conference at the Canada Place and it turned out to be a lovely 15 minutes walk. On my way back to the hotel, I had the leisure to shop around as the shopping mall are all nearby. Although I was expected to be a man (Mr instead of Ms. on the greeting cards) I felt special from the moment I walked into the lobby. I highly recommend.

Great location
We stayed here at the beginning and end of a 2 week visit to BC. The well appointed small lobby seems to be shared with a residential block. There is no ground floor bar or lounge, but an attractive restaurant, lounge and outdoor terrace on the 5th floor. This could be slightly awkward if meeting non-residents who cannot access the area directly. Attentive and friendly staff. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms (with a complimentary upgrade on our second stay). Very comfortable bed. Very well located, within easy walking distance of the Waterfront, Gastown and major shops. Free computer and printer access on the 5th floor. Only one tiny niggle - most of the pillows are very very firm which I could not sleep on. To be fair I found that there seemed to be one softer pillow per room - but alas too late once one’s partner is already fast asleep on it.... We would definitely stay here again.

Old World Elegance!
What a delight to drive up to a hotel reminiscent of Old World European Sophistication with an amazing professional staff of individuals from around the world. My husband and I were greeted by Sean who professionally and kindly helped us into the hotel and introduced us to Elena at the front desk. Elena was a breathe of fresh air with her bubbly and sparkling personality yet with pure professionalism. She knew we were celebrating a birthday and we were delighted to find a beautiful room with a box of Swiss chocolates and a nice orchid from the manager greeting us. The room had an adjacent patio where we enjoyed a picnic. The room was a nice size with a fireplace for ambiance and a beautiful bathroom with a nice size tub for two and a separate shower. All of the linens and towels were of wonderful quality and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job of making our room perfect everyday. On our floor, we had access to a beautiful club room which had a nice size fireplace, a large screened TV, and offerings of cocktails and an elegant setting with linens on the table for breakfast which was delicious. There is also a gym. Kelly with wonderful energy from Australia was very helpful in planning activities and helping us understand transportation. Mike Wu, the front office manager ensured we were pleased with the hotel and services. It was nice to be in an hotel that offered elegance along with being taken care of. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff and hotel.

Absolutely lovely front desk staff. So friendly and helpful. They even called me after checking in to make sure I was getting settled ok. They gave me a free upgrade and couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The room was spacious, clean and cozy. I'll definitely return, and highly recommend to anyone visiting Vancouver to check it out!

Welcomed like old friends in this wonderful hotel
This was our third stay at the L'Hermitage, it is a favourite hotel and has become our go to place in Vancouver. Although it is 4 years since our last stay we were welcomed back like old friends and even given the room we've had before with a view over the patio and pool. The rooms are spacious (Boutique Room), including a spacious bathroom and very well appointed with comfortable king beds. Good small breakfast bar with continental and cooked breakfast items. Fitness room, small pool and outdoor hot tub. Spotlessly clean. Every member of staff you meet is switched on and pleasant and ready to assist you if needed. They have an excellent Reception and Concierge team who are very friendly and can offer good restaurant recommendations, not from some approved list, but there own personal favourites, and they will do all they can to help, and there's always a hello every time you step out the elevator or a welcome when you step through the door. One night we wanted a taxi to Coal Harbour for an excursion (booked through the Concierge), and we stood outside trying to find a cab (normally lots of them). For some reason it was very busy so the ladies on reception had the bell boy run to one end of the street whilst one of them got on the phone and rang every cab company, and one stayed out front trying to hail a cab, and although unsuccessful, it wasn't for lack of help. They are led by an excellent manager, Jean-Michel, who is hands on front of house. Can't wait to go back.
