Disappointing stop over
I stayed here with my young daughter for the night as we had stayed about 2 years prior and had a positive experience. This time the rooms weren't maintained and cleaned to the previous experience we had. On the bed there were several black hairs on the cover and sheet. In the bathroom the grout in the shower was dirty and the shower screens had grime on them. The bathroom floors and walls also had hairs on them. Out of the four pillows on the bed, three were lumpy, not just a little, a lot! When we were in bed there must of been a plastic covering under the sheet as we could hear the sound of plastic every time one of us moved. The rooms were dusty and cleaning to a poor standard. We actually decided against even having a drink or cup of tea from the room because the cups probably wouldn't of been cleaned properly if the room wasn't. We also opted to eat away from the hotel because it was disappointing for an Accor property to be so disappointing. It was off putting there was a charge for guests to use the car park to the hotel. We were put in the first room to the floor we were on and heard EVERY noise, from the lift, people talking, doors closing, etc. I'm sure anyone with young children can appreciate my frustration. On checkout I approached the desk with our bag and all that was said was "your room number" to which I replied with the number. Following that I was told "your right to go". In my head I was prepared to give my constructive feedback, however wasn't asked.

Long term client treated shabbily
I like booking through but the hotel staff didn't appear to be too happy that I had. The room booked was described on as, "484-sq-meter room, balcony with partial ocean and city views." The initial room they gave me was dark and faced a wall on a courtyard with pool. I had to go back down and press my case to get what I had paid for. This raised further comment from the staff about my booking through Later I discovered I had left a business shirt in the wardrobe and rang the hotel; the staff knew about it and said they would mail it to me (my paying the postage, of course). It's been a full month and I still haven't seen the shirt. I don't accept the postal system is to fault here because all my other mail arrives fine. This particular experience has left a bad taste in my mouth because I have actually been a loyal customer of Mercure Centro Port Macquarie for five years. I don't think I'll go back.

The Mercure is in a great central location and the staff are very polite and friendly but they are the only positives unfortunately. I found it extremely overpriced for the standard of the room and am shocked at its 4.5 star rating. Our coffee cups still had coffee rings in the bottom, the shower had mould and broken silicone hanging off on tiles, the soap shelf was severely rusted, the toilet had mould build up hanging from the lip when we flushed it, the carpets were stained and the pillows were in poor condition and very lumpy. To top it off our television could only pick up one channel! For the price we paid for our midweek stay we were extremely disappointed and would not waste our money staying here again.

Maintenance and thorough cleaning required
The door handle doesnt work properly and I hurt my hand. The room was good but the bathroom... badly designed as you couldn't sit on the toilet. The toilet was missing a press button and the shower had built up scum. We had left an item, it was lodged by staff and a few days later we were able to collect it. We were greatfull for that care and trouble. All the staff, check in, out and lost item pick up were helpful and friendly.

Only sept there on journey. Would have liked a lounge to sit on . Only 1uncomfortable chair and a desk chair. What saved the whole experience was breakfast when we had a really great guy looking after us . I think his name was Athol Adams . Dinner we had to have in our rooms as cafe full. Meat tough and fatty . Garlic bread the worst any of us have ever had . Dry and nearly broke our teeth. Didn’t eat any of it and had ordered 2 serves.
