Fire alarms went off somewhere in the building causing the elevators to go out. I was on the 10th floor and no fire alarms went off, but I could not access the elevators. I had to call the front desk to find out what was happening and to make sure it was okay to use the fire exits to leave the building. I had to walk down 10 flights of stairs. I don’t know why we weren’t notified when our safety could have been in danger. There were 5 fire trucks outside the building so it did not seem like a small issue. Besides this unfortunate incident, everything else was fine.

Nice 3 night stay
Place was very easy to find and overnight garage parking was close and reasonable. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful to us first timers to Baltimore. With Covis, their complementary hot breakfasts were grab and go, but still good. However, with Covis your room doesn't get touched by cleaning staff, though not a deal breaker. You get extra towels and toiletry items at the front desk. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone looking for something downtown and reasonably priced.

Ooops
The Hilton Garden Inn is usually top notch. The property is in a great location, and provides really good service. This trip, however, we had a floor service worker basically just walk into our room. It could have been a very embarrassing moment for everyone. She apologized and retreated. When we told the manager, Richard, he explained that she had been told that the room was vacant. I understand that it was not her fault, but Richard acted like it was OK for her to have disturbed us like she did. An "oops" occurrence, for sure, and an isolated one, but maybe the hotel need to review its policies on entering rooms before verifying that they are empty.
