You want to stay here :)
The Inn is a sweet place. Frank, at check in, was so helpful and even poured us a glass of wine even though we checked in after happy hour. The room was really nice that had a little kitchenette in the room. It had pans, utensils and cups for coffee but needs plates. Also coffee maker, full fridge, 4 burner oven and microwave in the kitchen. Could easily stay for a week and cook the whole time. The beds and pillows were super comfy and even though there were plenty of people around the room remained quiet. The morning complementary breakfast had plenty of the usual suspects all the way up to the end, which is when I showed up. Nice al fresco eating area as well as seating in the reception space. When we check out (on 6/23), sadly I didn't catch the name of the young man there, but he took the time to help my mom by looking up the location to a book store in the area that she wanted to visit. Oh, and while we were loading up our car to leave, without asking, a gentleman working there offered to load our bags. The entire staff was wonderful !! My one and only complaint was the tub was slow to drain, but I suspect that can easily be rectified. I will happily stay here again. Thank you all :)

Went downhill
The room stunk like a sewer and they were no other rooms available that day as I was told by the front desk employee. I called again after 11.30 pm because the smell was so strong and we just couldn't fall sleep; I was offered 2 single king size rooms ( all they had left) which wasn't going to work as we were vacationing as a family with a toddler who was asleep by then, and I didn't feel like moving in the middle of the night. Also, the service went downhill in a the past 7 years. We stayed there in 2011 and were blown away then by this hotel, not anymore. The hotel looks dirty and room looked dirty, old and dingy. It needs a makeover like fresh paint, new carpets and bathroom remodel (at least in the room we stayed in). Even the carpet was dirty with stuff all over it but no one from the housecleaning was available when I noticed it that evening. It was very difficult to keep the 2 year old off the floor all the time. The bathtub drain was clogged too and the water wouldn't drain for an hour after someone took a shower The breakfast now is very poor that consists of Costco brand hard boiled eggs, 4 types of Raisin Bran cereal and some pastries with butter and Philadelphia cream cheese on the side. I remember it to be completely different, and they used to serve cold cuts, variety of juice and fruit among other things for breakfast. I mean, it used to be delicious and you didn't have the need to go out to eat real breakfast. We were disappointed with our stay.

They go above and beyond
Bigger room than most with a kitchenette which was nice to have. The grounds were meticulously kept and the staff was very helpful when it came to directions or restaurant recommendations. They have WONDERFUL pastries in the morning and VERY drinkable wine at their reception. I'm usually avoid these due to the cheap cheap wine that most hotels put out but I found both their white and red choices quite tasty. I also expected cheap shampoo/conditioner/body gels in their showers, but no, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that they use bath and body works! They are also very conveniently located - walking distance to the pier and several restaurants and just a couple miles from the lovely Santa Barbara Zoo. You are close to the highway but would never know it. Thanks for a great stay!

Pleasantly surprised!
We have only nice things to say about our experience at the Inn by the Harbor; from our greeting by Frank at the front desk to the clean and comfortable room we stayed in. Frank, at the front desk, was very professional and sincerely friendly. His greeting helped to set our very nice stay there. The room was cute, clean and comfortable. Although we didn't use the swimming pool, we did use the spa which was cozy and kept at a great hot temperature. The location was great. We had great weather and couldn't ask for more. We talked with other guests who felt as we do, that is: we plan to return to this Inn by the Harbor.

Outstanding service, beyond expectations
I stayed 4 nights, during the 101 freeway closure south of Santa Barbara, after the tragic mudslides in Montecito. The hotel is well located, the harbor, and restaurants at walking distance. The room was clean, welcoming and the bed very comfortable. From check in to check out, the staff was very friendly and helpful. My shift ending at midnight, I had some difficulties, the first two nights, finding a parking spot, as the hotel was fully booked with first responders and Caltrans crews. After my mentioning it, management made sure that I would have a spot available, next to my room, for my middle of the night arrival. I really, really appreciated the effort, and thank them again here, in case they read this review. I highly recommend this hotel, and it will be my first choice again, should I need to stay overnight in Santa Barbara again.
