Very good 8.0
Upon check on the clerk couldn’t understand that I wanted to check into 3 rooms. She also couldn’t understand that I wanted to pay for 2 carpark spaces. She couldn’t understand that one credit card was going to be used for the bond/deposit for all 3 rooms. And I told her that the extra person would not be joining us in which she said we wouldn’t have to pay the extra $45 for them. This check in process took about 20 minutes with 8 of us standing in the lobby with our luggage. We felt our rooms were quite small even with a max of 3 people in each there wasn’t a lot of room to move around. Unfortunately one of the rooms balcony was unable to be opened which meant we were unable to get any airflow into the room. Upon departure, we were asked to pay for the extra person who did not stay, which I had mentioned at our check in. We did not pay as they did not stay. This should have been noted. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant in which they were very accommodating and made sure our meals were out to us as we were on a time limit to be gone.

Near to the University,Great Staff, Poor amenities
This is a great place to stay if you're headed to the University. Just a 3 -5 minute walk away. There are few restaurants that are really close by - the nearest are the Korean and Japanese restaurants at Anzac Avenue. I'll recommend that Korean restaurant and bar. It serves authentic Korean fare at reasonable prices. It's an easy walk to Bristomart, to see the Saturday market, or to catch the ferry to visit the islands. Easy walk to Queen Street but expect an uphill walk when you return. Wifi was terrible, and got worse as my 6-day stay progressed. Connection was weak and intermittent. It was embarrassing that the attachments I've sent to my boss did not load! It was totally ridiculous that the projected time to upload 4 files was 47 DAYS! The only place I could get a decent connection was at the door, seated on the cold floor next to the bathroom. Best to check the toiletries before use. The shampoo I received on the first day had expired 6 months ago. Strange that I only saw body lotion appearing on the last 2 days of my stay, and I thought it was not provided. Staff were really helpful and tried their best to work out the issues though. Kudos to them. I was offered an alternative room on my last day, even though it was almost 1am then, and I was checking out in 6 hours. I didn't bother though, given the hour. Hotel has friendly and helpful staff that made up for the poor amenities. They will also assist with shuttle arrangements to the airport.

The hotel is very basic, nothing special. Close to the spark arena which was the reason for our visit to Auckland so that was great. There were skid marks left in the toilet from the previous guest and we found a couple of long black hairs in the bed from a previous guest too. Definitely didn’t belong to either my husband or I. The shower pressure was good but that probably the only positive. Upon check in I asked to prepay for our room. The receptionist said that we had to pay on check out and that an authorisation had to be held on our credit card. She proceeded to do the auth; holding the amount for our night owing plus $50 per night (x2) for any incidentals. Fine. No big deal. Until check out when we were informed that there was a 2% surcharge for credit cards. I’ve worked in a hotel before and know that if you release the auth without using any of it then it can take up to 5 working days for the funds to show up on your card again so we unhappily proceeded with the payment and 2%. We should have been informed about the 2% on check in and given the option to prepay by whatever payment method we preferred, especially since I requested this. The guy on check out apologised (pitifully) and agreed she should have told us on check in... not good enough to be honest.

2 night stay enough for us. Would look elsewhere.
We were in New Zealand visiting family and had a 5 night trip in Fiji, So had booked this hotel in advance of our trip for the night we returned and the night before our flight back to UK. The room booked was classed as a superior room with kingsize bed. I had checked out update reviews before our arrival and was abit nervous of what I had read, but I looked at it as only a place to sleep before the long journey home. The bathroom had a chipped bath and the tiles could do with updating, If you are tall the bath was small along with the whole bathroom, I actually thought there was a child's toilet as it was so low down !!. Furntiure is dated but I've seen that in NZ houses, some quite 70s look, the carpets in hallways do need replacing. Key for room door. Fridge, tea coffee facilities, kettle, iron and ironing board was handy. TV. Not that much room in general, had balcony but when we opened it, it's only a place to stand no room for chair but noisey from main road, and could smell cooking which I assume was from the restaurant. First come first served parking on site which is limited and charged $10 pernight, available parking at nearby car park, Wifi charges expensive. Got woken up first morning before 8 by workman in room opposite and woken at 3am on our last night by what sounded like a party going on in nearby room. Wouldn't stay again, Good deal for advance booking but I think that was to high seeing you pay to park & wifi on top.

Fair 4.0
Three points saved this experience from being extremely disappointing. 1. Your wonderful helpful waitress went out of her way to ensure we actually got the breakfast we had paid for. 2. The location was great to walk to Spark Arena. 3. One of the beds were eventually comfortable. Our disappoint was being told on arrival that even though we were prepaid visitors that there was now no parking available on site and we had to pay to actually park there. The toilet failed to flush properly due to the button and the shower head sprayed up all over the roof even when facing down. But the worse was yet to come, after having a late night at a concert I arrived back and turned down my bed sheets to find 'cum' stains over the sheet. I called reception only to be asked if I was sure I hadn't actually slept in the bed myself and then inferred that maybe I had made the stain myself! (I'm a woman and was with my teenage daughter), I reminded them what time we had arrived and assured reception that we had little time to get ready for the concert let alone manage to stain the sheets!!! When someone finally arrive to change the bed, they only changed the one sheet and left the other one on the bed. At this stage it was well after midnight and I was over it all. On departing there was no apology or compensation (would have been nice not to have been charged for the parking). We will never stay here again.
