We would expect hot drinks at breakfast in an establishment of this quality to be served using teapots and cafetieres not an inaccurate vending machine.

Nearly a very nice stay.
Just stayed one night with a couple of friends. Location was good with beautiful outlook. Facilities were very good (no time to try the spa facilities.) Room was a decent size, comfortably furnished and well equipped. Spent 10 mins trying to find the switch for the electric towel rail until I realised it wasn't actually connected to anything. The alarm clock provided was an hour ahead (2 days after the clocks went back) and the only way to change it was to unscrew the back, which had a 'Do not remove - hotel use only' sticker on it. Also there were chocolate stains on the desk seat, not ideal for pale coloured trousers. The bar had a nice ambience and was very comfortable apart from the fact that most of the tables were too low to get your legs under. You were not allowed to put the cost of the drinks on your room even when presented with the key and the accompanying sleeve showing your room number. Strangely, later in the evening a different barman seemed happy for you to book drinks to your room, must be some logic there somewhere. The food in the restaurant was good and the service very polite and efficient. Overall an enjoyable experience and the niggles wouldn't stop me from staying there again.

Really lovely place
We have zero complaints about this hotel, had a really nice stay however we were there purely overnight and didn’t have time to explore any of the other facilities so cannot judge the whole hotel, however our room was comfortable and the service was really good. We had a little wait at the front desk at check in (after a 4 hour drive in the dark and torrential rain was not fun!) while the receptionist was dealing with a phone call, but he gave us free drink vouchers to use down in the bar which was a really lovely touch! We were shattered but made sure we ventured to the bar before bed to check it out and glad we did as it was beautiful down there. If we’re ever back that way we’ll definitely stop there again as it was a stunning building set in beautiful grounds.

A better night's sleep at a Premier Inn
The most uncomfortable night's sleep in any hotel ever - there were three of us (myself, my partner and our four-year-old) so we had asked for a put-up bed. They had made up the sofa bed for us and the mattress was so appallingly thin that it felt exactly like lying on a chain-link fence as the springs were at the surface. Our little boy found it so uncomfortable (his words: "the bed doesn't feel very nice") that my partner took it, and simply couldn't sleep - he ended up cramming in with us (and the main bed wasn't a kingsize so it was a bit of a squeeze). Room was also a bit cold and the decor was fairly tacky and depressing too. I only booked this hotel because, when I called up in advance, I was told that children could use the pool at any time - this turned out to be misinformation and our son wasn't allowed in there before 11am (we had wanted to be on the road again by then). We paid around the same to stay here as we paid to stay at the beautiful Bowood Hotel and Spa later on, which is a travesty. We would genuinely have had a better night's sleep at a Premier Inn. The staff were absolutely lovely and the breakfast was nice, but when you haven't slept a wink all night those things aren't really enough!
