Poor 2.0
LOUSY TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS
There was a problem with check-in for my daughter (had a photo of her passport but not the hard copy) which resulted in the hotel staff not allowing her on the premises. This was bad enough, as other five star hotels in the area were happy to let her check in after she emailed them her passport copy (as all they do is take a picture of her passport anyway!), but it got much worse from here. I understand that they have their rules (even if they are ridiculous) and I accepted the situation but I had paid for three guests and now there were only going to be two. As such I asked for a refund of the fee for the third person or at least a breakfast to partially compensate. They refused! saying repeatedly that there was nothing that they could do. They are a big, wealthy and highly rated establishment. All I wanted was some gesture of goodwill or respect from them and there was none!! They were totally unhelpful, treated us with condescension and basically couldn't care less as we had already paid! It was clear to us that they cared a lot more about the money than about us, their clients! I will NEVER stay there again nor recommend to anyone that I know or meet to stay there either!

They steal from you
We booked this hotel believing it was a Jumeriah Group hotel. We live in Dubai and frequent Jumeriah hotels whenever we travel. Unfortunately Jumeriah Group pulled out of it last year and I can understand why. No swimming pool, a restaurant with 3 choices of main course. The service at check in and check out was extremely slow and the staff uninterested. Old hotel showing signs of wear. The worst part of all is that we checked out to move to another hotel in Rome, noticed a pair of expensive shoes were missing, took a taxi back to the hotel to inform them we'd left my shoes only for the manager Diego to accuse my wife of inventing stories!? He was extremely rude and refused to review the CCTV when requested. The shoes had been worn twice and cost €420 but the manager point blank refused to do anything. On the plus side it's right next to Harry's Bar and the Marriot which makes dining a bit easier rather than the limited choice you have in this hovel. Great hotel to stay at if you like lazy staff, bad service, limited choice of food, no swimming pool to use on Rome summer days and you like your possessions stolen from you and the manager being rude and non-helpful. I wouldn't send an enemy to this hotel

Great service, polite staff and clean rooms
Arrived at 10ish and we were allowed to change at the spa as our room was not ready. By the time we were done changing, they called and informed us of an early check in at 1050. First time receiving a free upgrade from Expedia+. Hotel staff are exceptionally polite. Receptionist was really nice and chirpy, made check in a breeze. We luggage wrapped our bags for the trip and the Bell boy took initiative to cut them open even before delivering it to our rooms (wow!). We also received a complimentary bottle of rose champagne. The service at the bar located at the lobby is tip top too, we stopped by only for a quick drink before dinner but they served us so many types of finger food (huge bowl of chips, three small bowls of nuts and a bowl of olives). I ended up ordering a salad cause I was embarrassed haha! Nevertheless, great service. Room is big and clean, but I think I’d much prefer more water bottles than the complimentary champers. Would definitely stay again

Left wanting for more
Hotel staff are very friendly and the first impression of the hotel was fantastic. However, the hotel was not able to accommodate us when asked about changing room or an extension due to our late flight. The superior room that I booked which came with a garden view was just of a brick wall and I never opened the curtains during my entire stay. The roof terrace that had vibrant pictures on the web site was closed with no bar service or any formal activity. Yes it did have a bed or two to lounge in the sun but you are very much on your own up there. Then there is the spa and pool. I was not told about th additional €90 charge per person to use the pool. I thought this was a bit harsh having paid full price to stay at the hotel. It felt to me that if you did not book the superior package at th hotel you would be given a rather second class service

Finally, a hotel worthy of the title "Five Star"!
My friends from Zurich and I stayed here for 3 nights during a two-week Italy vacation which included a stop in Rome. The rooms were very plush, immaculately clean and very quiet even though the hotel is on Via Veneto. Every amenity needed was provided in the room and all was in perfect working order. Although we did not try the main restaurant, the rooftop bar was a great place with a casual elegance and we met other interesting hotel guests there. (My friends reported that they also enjoyed the spa at a reasonable price.) The best thing of all here, however, was the service at the front desk and, most notably, the concierge desk. The staff helped us find and reserve the three best dinner restaurants of our entire Italy trip as well as a private tour of the Vatican which, although expensive, allowed us to visit that must-see destination. The Grand Hotel Via Veneto is a hotel which truly deserves to be called "Five Star"! Highest recommendation!!!!
